Yes, the difference in one is a permanent chemical service and one is a styling iron that is flat and you press your hair flat and smooth with it. The ironed hair only stays that way until the next shampoo.

Hair straightener is a chemical process and an iron uses heat to straighten your hair. My suggestion is use the heat. Chemical straighting is permit!

I have done both. The top of mine I use the straightening kit, and it works fantastic, real smelly though. but I still use my everyday straighenting iron on my hair.
my hair is really curly, then wavey & the ends are straight.
The out come is amazing!

A straightening iron is just one type of hair straightener. There are many types including chemical-based (like perms) and hot combs.
