I think he is just defending boxing. What most MMA fans refuse to take into consideration is all the trash-talking MMA fighrers, promoters, and fans talk about boxing. This happens all the time and nobody makes a fuss over it, but Floyd retaliates and it's all the sudden a huge deal. In a boxing match, Floyd is right, no MMA fighter can match a skilled boxer. In an MMA match, Floyd and any boxer would get slaughtered by the likes of Liddell or any good MMA fighter barring a lucky punch.

I don't watch UFC but know what it is. Two different sports with different regulations. Mayweather is just promoting his fight. The more trash he talks the more people will watch. But if you did place a UFC fighter in the ring to box Floyd. Floyd would have the upper hand and vice versa. But surely when it comes down to punching power, the boxers have it the most.

It's pointless. There's more than enough room for both sports. I like Mayweather, but he doesn't know what the fu*k he's talking about regarding this subject.
Boxing and MMA are two completely different sports, each with its own disciplines, skills and training methods.
Boxing is a great sport, but make no mistake, MMA features some incredibly gifted athletes, and it's here to stay.
The developing rivalry between the two is a good thing, because it's ultimately going to force both sports to grow, in order to attract new fans.
Let's not forget, quality fighters like Francois Botha, Shannon Briggs and Vince Phillips have had their as*es handed to them when they've tried to cross over.

If he thinks so little of the UFC, why doesn't he get in there and fight one of those guys instead of running his big mouth!
