Yes you can. I always use salted butter in my recipes. Im Irish and we have salted butter as the norm so I use it in cakes etc too....
It tastes lovely and a lot of recipes add salt anyway. sometimes it is for the rising action but usually it is for the flavour as the salt and sugar give it the nice taste you expect!
Just follow your usual recipe and use the salted butter. Leave out other salt if you are worried...
Here is my favourite Irish recipe for it...
220g/7 oz butter
250g/8 oz /1/2 lb flour
125g/4 oz sugar
90g/3 oz ground rice
Method:
Beat butter to a cream, add all other ingredients.
Mix well with a wooden spoon.
When smooth roll out flat to about 1 inch thick/2 cm
and cut into circles with a cutter,or fingers or triangles.
Prick holes in the top with a fork.
Bake at 350 F/ 180 C/ Gas 4 for 10 -15minutes.
Sprinkle with caster sugar when cool.
Keep in an airtight tin.
Enjoy!

Unsalted! Use a tiny pinch of salt in your flour. You probably have a cookie recipe- some people do get them confused when writing recipes down. A shortbread recipe should use only butter, sugar, flour and a pinch of salt, maybe a splash of milk or juice (Scottish Shortbread will usually include semolina or similar). You also need to wait until they are completely cool before eating so they're crunchy. You can add chocolate chips or raisins if you want, you shouldn't need to adjust your recipe much.

Absolutely. It has no baring on the texture. True old Scottish recipes do not call for additional salt. The amount in the butter compared to the amount of sugar you use will render it unnoticeable anyway. I always use some rice four in mine and grind my sugar to a finer granule in the food processor as well. And I never let a processor or mixer near the actual dough. Do all mixing by hand. Don;t let it brown in the oven Take it out when it is still pale and it will be lovely!

Yes, you can make shortbread using salted butter. Shortbread has salt in it anyways. Make sure you don't add the salt called for in the recipe, if it calls for salt.

Yes, I always use salted butter, and simply do not add any additional salt. Mine always turns out just fine. I also substitute 1/3 of the flour for rice flour, and use castor sugar instead of granulated. Hope this helps.
