In the word god the bible 2Peter ch 2 1-3 states
But thee were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secetly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the lord who bought them on bring on themselves swift destruction
2 and many will follow their destructive ways, beacuse of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for all time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.
This is talking about false prophets, This Joseph Smith all the way

There were TRUE prophets, before Jesus. Why can't the LDS understand that after Jesus came we had no need of prophets. I believe what Jesus taught about God, not what Joseph Smith said. If they would only see the big picture they would see the LDS doctrine is false. They only want to look at what the LDS "prophets" have said, not what the Bible says, or what Jesus said.

The scripture also say:

7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
(Old Testament | Amos 3:7)

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
(New Testament | Ephesians 2:19 - 20)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
(New Testament | Ephesians 4:11 - 12)

Your scripture warns us about false prophet such as those like "Jones town", "or waco incidence in Texas.
My scriptures tell us God will continue to call true Prophet to lead his church.

So to answer your question. I believe Joseph Smith was a true prophet called by God , to lead Christ's church in this latter days.

Both...

Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, Jesus Christ is the Son of God...

Like Peter, Joseph Smith testified of Jesus Christ- that He was the Savior of the world, blah, blah, blah... I've said this so many times on this site, it's starting to sound trite to me.

Jews still look for a Messiah, but they follow the teachings of a man, a great prophet, but still a mortal human being... Moses.... Similar situation with the LDS church- We follow the prophet as a guide in following Jesus Christ.

No, the Bible doesn't exactly tell us what we should do about porn, or terrorists, or cocaine, or.... That's what a living prophet is for- to provide continuing guidance.

Again, I don't get how Joseph Smith could have been a "false prophet..." He saw and spoke with the living God and His Son, Jesus Christ on a number of occasions, then gave that information to whomever would listen.

I believe both. Joseph Smith always bore witness of Jesus Christ, just like every prophet I've ever read about in the Bible.

And if Joseph was a false prophet, where's the destruction? I see the Mormon Church helping out people (the church sends much humanitarian aid throughout the world, like Europe after WWII and the nations around the Indian Ocean after the tsunami a couple of years ago) - is that destructive? I see the Mormon Church telling us familes are good - is that destructive? I see the Mormon Church instructing its members to obtain a good education - is that destructive? I see the Mormon Church telling us to take care of our bodies, and that things like cigarettes (a known cause of cancer) and alcohol (which leads to destruction of the liver and lots of traffic accidents) are bad (and have been since decade before medicine began saying so) - is that destructive?

The Bible also tells me that by their fruit we shall know them. And considering just the things I've cited above (not even counting the other things that the Mormon Church has its members do), well...

1. We believe in Jesus Christ, son of God, and that he is our savior.
2. We believe in Joseph Smith and he was not a false prophet.
3. The church does not worship Joseph Smith, but we are thankful to him because he restored the church following the orders of God himself and Jesus.
4. Joseph Smith is not with us anymore but we have Gordon B. Hinkley who is our current prophet.

Exactly how are the two mutually exclusive?

I know that Joseph Smith was not a false prophet. He reorganized the True Church, the LDS church. I also know that Jesus Christ is our Savior.

Why can you not believe both? Joseph smith taught about God and Jesus.

When I read the scripture you quote I feel they are talking about people like you and the leaders of the so called "Christian Churches" and not Joseph Smith.

If there are False Prophets, then there must be True Prophets...right? God has always used prophets to communicate to His people. If He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow...then why wouldn't he still have a prophet on the Earth today?

That's like asking, 'who do you believe, Jesus Christ or the Apostle Peter?' I know with all my being, my analytical left brain cortex and my heart and my spirit that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of the Living Lord, Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ chose Him to restore His gospel back to its pure form. I know that Jesus Christ ordained Joseph Smith to establish His One and Only Church back to the earth for the last time, never to be taken away by apostasy again. People may fall away, but the entire church will never fall away again. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Who do you believe, Jesus Christ or Paul? Both can’t be right. And posting from your dogma proves nothing, it’s simply the dogma you have chosen to believe, they believe theirs. And how can you be so sure that Peter is not talking about Paul in those verses? The two didn’t like each other very much, did they?
