If she is abnormally sized you will not be held accountable. Plus, if she's your friend why would she sue you?

How heavy is she? Most chairs will hold very heavy weights. She will know what to do and will choose a chair that will hold her. You are risking no liability.

Sit on the floor and have meals on short-legged Japanese tables. Fine, I wasn't being helpful. In USA, they can sue you for almost anything - don't you remember the case of the burglar suing the house owner when he was injured? The burglar won and was compensated! If you love your friend, how about taking her out to a nice restaurant, if anything breaks, you're not responsible.

I think thats kind of a mean thought to think. I have never worried about something like that before, I guess we are all different, but to your question. I would have to say no don't worry about a lawsuit.

make her sign a waiver just to be on the safe side
i think if she willingly came into your house and willingly sat on one of your chairs you would not have much liability. it would be hard for her lawyer to prove that she didnt know she was heavy enough to break a chair before she sat down on it.

Either your chairs are of poor quality or your friend weighs in excess of 400 pounds or you wouldn't be asking this question.
Ask her to sign a waiver, maybe she will slap some sense into you.

To bad you didn't leave a weight.
Sometimes you see Iron type chairs
at yard sales. She'll want to sit up, and
not low like many chairs are.
Ask her, to be safe and sure.

Do your "friend" a favor.
Don't invite her to your home, and stop speaking to her. She'll be better off without "friends" like you. It's obvious that you're more worried about your cheap chairs than about her suing you. Wow.
