Some times after overheating a car the cat converter gets dammaged pieces of the converter blows back into the cyl's when the other exhaust valves open. Cyl wall dammage (wear) is hard to detect with out micrometers. The other thing that causes oil smoke worn piston rings that were softened by the overly high tempatures. How many miles? I assume your car has the 2.5 liter four cyl. engine? Complete motors really are not that expensive. And replace the cat converter manifold if necessary look at the ceramic element from both sides thru the O2 sensor hole and exhaust outlet on the bottom.

RE:
2002 Nissian Altima. blowing smoke??
It is blowing smoke out of the exhaust....it is white in color.
I have had the head replaced, after running it hot. We have replaced the spark plugs and we have checked all vacum hoses. Please is there something else we need to do.
I miss my car and i dont have money to buy another one.

White smoke is water vapor. If it does it all the time that would indicate a leak in the engine cooling system. Could be a blown head gasket. Check with your local mechanic and keep a close eye on the coolant level.

If it doesn't seem like it's losing power, and it's an automatic, it could be the trans cooler modulator on your tranny. It will break inside and allow tranny fluid to pass through a line running through your exhaust manifold, therefore causing the white smoke. It happened to one of my friends vehicles, and can be replaced for about 40 or 50 dollars. Then it will clear up shortly after.

White smoke=Water leek. Probably from head gasket.
White/blue smoke=Oil
Black smoke=Unburnt Fuel
The head gasket may have not been properly installed. Or the head may be warped/cracked from running hot. Take it back to where it was serviced.

The car is still practically brand new! I don't know what you did to it, but abusing your car is a big no-no. (No pun intended). Like the other fellows have said below, it's most likely a blown head gasket which could cost between $1000 or more.

It sounds as though you may have sludge in your engine. You need to have that check ASAP because you can cause serious damage to your engine and will need to get a new one. You may also have oil and/or antifreeze leaking.
Take your car back to whomever repaired it and advised them that it's still smoking.

If its white it could be the head gasket itself or oil rings!
If its blue or gary your burning oil and your engine needs to be
overhalled or replaced!or you could just buy a V-DUB!
