Christianity isn't false. Christianity is true because God is real and God does exist. Jesus did die on the cross for our sins. God loves us all.

You are so right...Bravo. And May God Bless You! False doctrine was only introduced 6 centuries later in the Quran, a demon inspired religion, worshiping a Moon God "Allah" (Baal)! That's what the crescent moon on Mosques are a symbol of. Even though most Muslims will try to tell they are symbolic of nothing. If they are symbolic of nothing and have no meaning, then WHY are they atop Mosques through out the world? In Christianity it's the Cross, symbolizing the passion of Christ and his dying on it for Mankind's Sins, and our Redemption,. Religious symbols have a meaning, it's a sad fact that Islam (Satan) tries to deceive it's followers by saying the Crescent Moon has no symbolic meaning. I just asked this question of Muslims earlier this week and that was the answer I got...It Has No Meaning...WRONG it Has A Meaning... It's The Symbol of the "Moon God Allah". Not he God of Abraham as Islam tries to get one to believe. The GOD of Abraham was and never will be a "Moon God".

I believe in God and that Jesus died on the cross.
I also think that smart people will believe what makes sense to them and serve as an example of tolerance and love to all people of all faiths.
I see a great deal of value in the teachings of most faiths. I see no reason to denigrate anyone.
I think God doesn't mind being called by many names.
Ecumenical is too narrow a definition for me. I'd like a term that is more inclusive.
Peace! :)

T o VQ- there weren't thousands of eyewitnesses to the things Christ did? So, I guess He made the people sit down in groups of 1 or 2 when He did the miracle with the fish and bread? So those 5,000 people were also illusion then, right?

Well, Eternity is too long to be wrong. You will live, and you will die, and if you do not take the time to find out why you believe what you believe, then its your fault, and you have to accept what ever come. If you think Christianity is false, but you have not studied it for yourself then you can not plead ignorance, because you are choosing not to find out for yourself.
Now if you do not posses the mind to understand it or the ability to study, then that something different. But if you can study and or read and you are making a choice not to for what ever reason, then it is what it is, and it will be what it will be.
Eternity is too long to be wrong.

One, there weren't thousands of eyewitnesses to most things in the new testament. Christ went out of his way to do most of his works before relatively small groups. And quite frankly, most people didn't care. To them, he was just the flavor of the week, one more zealot claiming to be the son of a god. In Rome, the pantheon was full of others just like him, he wasn't anything special.
Second, the bible wasn't created as a cohesive document for over three hundred years after christ's life. No one was around to say what was real or true anymore. A bunch of church guys picked and chose what they wanted to include and left out everything else. For all you know, the truth was among those documents discarded.
Third, it wouldn't have been hard to introduce discrepancies at all. During the Dark Ages (when the church was most powerful and prevalent), the bible was copied and recopied by scribes and priests who couldn't read--who were just trying to copy out the symbols on the pages. In addition, only priests (who often bragged about not being able to read and who had to memorize their liturgies to be able to conduct services) were allowed to read the bible, so it could have been changed any number of times and very few people would have been the wiser.
Fourth, there were dozens of sects of christianity throughout history, groups who believed things completely different that what is currently accepted now, who had plenty of documentation to back them up. There are over fifty known gospels; very few have been able to examine them, so who knows what contradictions they may put forth?

There is no contemporary account of the life of Jesus. The gospels were written from 30 to 100 years after the death of Jesus.

The gospels were written long after Christ's death by people who were not present at any of the "miracles". You only have to visit any court of law to realise the different accounts people can give of the same event even when they are present.

Christianity is a faith based system of beliefs. There is a scripture that says it we seek Him we will find Him if seek Him with all of our heart. Like any solid group of experiences in life our beliefs are based on "track records." For example if we've had too many bad burgers at a given burger joint we will stop going there for lunch. The same with faith and trust in God - we seek Him, pray, a relationship begins with God as we know Him. One step at a time.

Read the Bible and the Gospels of Thomas and Philip and you will see true Christianity and the Way of Jesus back to God as His true children.
Thomas and Philip not required for those who read with spiritual eyes of a child as Jesus instructed, they just helped confirm what I already knew from the Bible.
