Like most of the other answers...cold air intake is an easy start. Usually around 40.00 on ebay. You can also get some tips on twinturbo.net. This is (my opinion) info site on the planet. One of the other answers also mentions this site. Its truly the best.

I recommend that you just save up and when you get close to the amount you want sell the NA and buy a TT. My dad bought his TT 2 years ago for 5,950 (no joke, 129,000 miles on it then and we have put on about 3,200 since) His pearl yellow NA when he bought it was 5,990. In the end we sold the yellow NA for 7,700. There is a profit from it in the end as long as it is stock. PS keep it stock to keep the value high.
My dad is bbug on tt.net if you want more info.

When I started drag racing, I was totally broke. Here is something you can do for FREE that you can feel when you mash the gas! Cut weight. If you can go without it, take it off. Its easy with a race car, you don't need seats or radio or crap like that. For street cars you have to look harder. extra insulation, spare tire and jack, ect. It all adds up. I went through every inch of my car and took out ever bolt that didn't need to be and cut over 600 lbs. Best of all, completely free.

cold air intake and bigger exhaust is probably the cheapest and easiest horsepower you can get, because you're not creating horsepower but rather you are freeing up horsepower thats already there. Plus all the local parts stores sell the kits and ebay has tons for sale.

Go to ebay and get a cold air intake or some kind of air intake. They are easy to put in only screws and claps.
