I just brought a pair of Acoustech HT-75 with a Onkyo TX-SR504 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver.
I just got everything plugged in. I tested it with bunch of Dvds, explosion sounds great, the clarity is so-so but when teh noise from the dvd is low the speaker sounds liek its been mufflered.

I don't mean to sound condescending but I would check to make sure the speakers are wired to the receiver in phase. Positive to positive and negative to negative. Also, as others have already suggested, make sure all the connections are snug and no positive and negative wires are touching. In the heat of hooking up a new system it is easy to make a mistake. Also, since it sounds like you only have two speakers I would be sure the receiver and DVD player are both set in their menus to perform in stereo rather than a surround sound mode that requires extra speakers.

Hi.This could be due to a number of factors and i think the best way is to try and eliminate them one by one.

Check all the connections again making sure they are in the right places and they are firmly plugged in .

The loudspeakers seem to be made to deliver ample amounts of bass. Are they close to a wall or corner. This will emphasis the bass notes and the sound will be a bit "muddy"

What position on the amplifier are the tone controlls ? If they are not in the center or defeat position temporarily do that so the signal is fairly clean.

You say the clarity is just so so ,do you mean on all the audio the speakers deliver (dialog, music etc.)

Try a CD to see how the speakers sound with audio only, and if the problem persists.

When the volume is low putt your ear close to the speaker to hear any buzzing or cabinet vibration.Check the screws nut bolts etc on the bass drivers and tighten them if you can in case they are a bit loose .

If nothing works you are entitled to have them repaired or replaced with your warranty card.
Best of luck.

the first element i ought to do is examine administration panel > sound and audio contraptions to make positive no longer something is muted. in case you plug the headphones decrease back in and also you get sound, then that's possibly no longer the sound card. i recognize you possibly checked all of this, yet i will element out it besides... some computers have on-board sound on the MB to boot to a valid card. therefore you'll have 2 conceivable "eco-friendly" output ports to plug contained in the cable. make positive you're using the right one if it truly is the case. also, some modems have ports for sound also. make positive you're not any more mistakenly using 1 in each of those. I had an celebration the position I fastened someones laptop at my domicile and each thing worked completely. even as the guy presented it domicile he stated he had no sound. I went via each thing back in straightforward words to ascertain that the audio device he replaced into using had a activate them to choose an "enter gadget." Do your audio device have one of those swap? ultimately, if all else fails i ought to easily reinstall the sound card drivers. even as think about them on a disc that got here with the laptop. If no longer you'll get them from Gateway or Realtek.

It may sound stupid but check to make sure, the speaker leads are correct. If it sounded perfect in the store chances are it's in your wiring
