Although this is in the wrong section, I'll bite anyways. Starving yourself is the worst way to lose weight. Period. When you starve yourself, your body doesn't prioritize necessarily what is right and wrong for you, and as such starts eating away at the proteins in your muscles. Fat is by no means the first and only thing that is burned. If you're a wrestler in High School (I'm a linesman on my varsity high school football team) and you only weigh 124 pounds, which is what my sister, being 5 ft. 8 in. and incredibly skinny is, then I'd say that if anything, you need to bulk up. When you gain muscle tone, your fat reserves become less noticeable by a great deal. Also, you're only in High School - don't worry so much about what you look like.

When you don't eat like you should your body will go into starvation mode and consequently start storing body fat. Your body does this because it doesn't know when your next meal will be. Believe it or not, eating regularly will help you keep the weight off. I spent much of my life being a light eater (maybe one meal a day) but luckily I ate the right things and managed to stay healthy. Now I am 27 and at 4'10 am 100 pounds (which looks great on me). I do eat more than I did when I was younger but still maintain a healthy weight. Don't starve yourself, just eat healthy and you will not gain more weight than is normal.

Having a small appetite is one thing, but not eating is just foolish and very harmful to your health. Starving can cause brain problems, heart problems, liver problems, etc.

As far as losing weight and then gaining it back, unfortunately if you become a yo-yo dieter, you can gain your lost weight back and then some. I am one of those unfortunate people. I think I have lost and gained my current bodily weight twice since my early 30's (I'm now 50).

Its true. When you dont eat enough, your body goes into starvationg mode. When you do start eating again your body then starts storing all it can just in case you start starving again. It thinks it needs to store energy to be used at a later time. This is very hard on your body because of your organs. Your kidneys, liver, heart, etc. all need to be used at a constant pace. If you starve you can actually have your kidneys etc. start to shut down. Going up and down in weight too much is very hard on your heart and can give you a heart attack.

Your question is more than a little confusing.

The standard wisdom is that when you're dieting to lose weight, the worse thing you can do is to starve yourself. There are a number of reasons, e.g. you're likely to pass out; you're likely to get sick; you won't have the energy to exercise but the reason I think you're alluding to is this: When you starve yourself you are causing your metabolism to slow down and therefore your body will burn calories at a slower rate.

Obviously starving yourself is counterproductive if you are trying to lose weight. But, even if you're not trying to lose weight, common sense dictates you should eat a balanced, healthy diet each and every day.

Your lean mass is one of the key components in your resting metabolic rate.

Starvation is a deficiency in a vital nutrient which forces your body to cannibalize its lean mass in order to get or make the nutrients to satisfy the deficiency.

Not only does this create toxic byproducts such as uric acid, it drastically lowers your resting metabolic rate. Your body will try to make you terminate this state by creating cravings for high calorie sources of the vital nutrient (usually carbohydrates or protein). If you give in, your reduced metabolism will cause you to gain back all of the lost weight as fat (although you lost mostly muscle). The result is a fatter you.

If you do not give in to the cravings, you starve to death. There are many in East Africa who can assure you that this is not a pleasant experience.

you need energy for your body to function, you get your energy from your food, you need to maintain a certian amount of energy so your body can function, you also need to eat the right foods, proteins and sugars and vitamins and minerals. your body needs all of those things to work properly without them you are starving your self and depriving your body of the essentials

yes, as soon as you start eating normal you gain it all back and even more because all you lost by starving yourself was water weight and muscle and you also slowed down your metabolism.
crash dieters end up as yo-yo dieters.

starving yourself puts strain on your heart, and will slow down your metabolism thats why you gain it all back easier
