One thing that you need to know - there is NO SUCH THING as SPOT REDUCING. That means you cannot choose a part of your body, such as abs, and perform an exercise that works those muscles to lose the fat there.

Fat is lost close to uniformly throughout your body. All that doing ab workouts will do for your abs is build the ab muscles up. BUT - if there is fat there, the muscles simply grow UNDER the fat, and if you notice any difference, it would most likely be that your stomach appears to be even fatter because of the extra fat pushed out by the muscles!

The only thing ab workouts do besides building muscle is burn calories. So in essence, you will lose as much fat from your stomach doing bicep curls or bench presses as you would doing weighted crunches.

The best way to burn calories and hence, fat, is to perform cardio in addition to a weight lifting routine. Look into HIIT (high intensity interval training). I will also give you some good sources to study up on.

The quickest, easiest way to get good abs - first lose the fat by combinging a diet with a regular workout routine (cardio and weight training) - then when your stomach is virtually fat free, or close to it, only then will your ab muscles be visible.

Try this deep breathing technique.Inhale through the nose for a count of 4,hold that breath for a count of 16, exhale through the mouth for a count of 8 really sucking your stomach in as you exhale.Do 30 of these breaths a day.It sounds easy but is effective. If you find you can't inhale, through nose, for a count of 4, start with 2 then hold that breath for a count of 8,and exhale for a count of 4.Gradually increase, always following this formula:For as many seconds as you inhale hold that breath x4 and exhale x2.Try to work up to inhale for count of 10 hold for count of 40 exhale for count of 20.Your abs will hurt as you start this,it is work.
Bonus: Oxygen burns fat,and your lung capacity will increase giving you more stamina.
