I am NOT talking about the rapture.

I am talking about a gentle man with gnostic beliefs that bordered on Buddhism. Wait, I can see the answers to that one.LOL

No, lets say a gentle man who spoke of loving each other and God. Jesus was a liberal of his time, and they killed him for it. He said those without sin cast the first stone, so I can see him standing up for the rights of all people. He said Judge not, lest ye be judged. Now how liberal is that?

Everything he stood for goes against judgement. Christianity is about judgement, or at least some Christians are.

Would you accept him?

I would love to meet Jesus. I would love to talk with him and hear him talk. If his message wouldn't have gotten messed up to begin with, the world would be such a different place I think. I don't know why the people with power don't get what Jesus is talking about. I don't understand why people didn't get the happiness and love from his words like I did. This is hard to explain. The joy I got from his teachings was better than any amount of money or power ever could be. The feeling, the love, the peace, so strong. I don't know if Jesus' purpose was to be killed on the cross so we get a ticket into heaven. I felt heaven from his teachings. That no matter what happens, no matter where I am-I felt that that was heaven. Inside the soul, the feeling, not a location with gold streets and harps being played. If Jesus was to come back like he did before, I hope people would HEAR what he's saying. That they'd get it.It's not money and power dang it. If people don't drop their agendas or whatever, then they will kill him again.I don't understand it though. You know when the Jewish leaders and Pontius Pilate were in his presence, I wish he would've talked to them. I wish he would've taught the love peace and understanding thing. Anyway, this is what I think. I would rather he come back like he did before, so people could hear and feel the love and understanding. For his safety though, he should probably come in with the sword raised riding on that fire cloud or whatever they say is gonna happen. Good question tex. Yeah, I'm a little nuts, sorry bout that. I'm sure I sound like a nut. I'm just as stubborn as every other believer that thinks they are right. What I felt has to be right, it was true love. Anyway, take care.

For the quick answer, skip to the bottom:

Yes, I would accept him, but not because he said he was Jesus, anybody can say that and some of the people that do start cults. The way your vision of him appears kind of comes up with one of those ex-hippie guys on the street corner.

I personally, would accept him as a regular guy not a Christian. But remember the Reformation??? Whenever someone from the outside tries to change the church, especially on something as fundamental as judgment (ours is a fair and just God and all that jazz), that person is either ignored by the general public or if they get enough followers, burned at the stake. Also, some septics might remember that the Devil would impersonate Jesus before the Rapture, giving more cause for him to be out casted or killed. Thats just the Christians though.

To go a bit further from the question though, outside of the Church, he would be persecuted by the Old religions (the Jews, Musliums, Buddists even). But all of the new religions and most of the atheists and even the ancient satanists cults would accept him. These groups would be joined by the social outcasts of the Capitalist society and the new Jesus would most likely found a new, more lenient religion that would eventually envelope the world more readily than the extremist old religions that are founded on strict structure and administration.

So , this new Jesus would be the foundation of a world Utopia (everyone shares everything and money does not exist basically). Taking, the ideas you gave him; peoples rights, NO judgment means...wait...no judgment...with judgment being modern day's form of order. Therefore, while loving one another, Jesus's core teaching, we will acheive peace without the need for laws.

Yes, even if most of the world did not accept his second coming, they could not deny his logic, as a man or God.

It would be wise for you to define judgment, you say some Christians like to judge.Usually people say this when a christian has pointed out a sin in their lives, Jesus said we shall know them by their fruit and if you are carring a few rotten fruits in your basket, I guess a believer has a right to point them out to you for your own benefit. This we all have a problem because we love sin and when one exposes it in our lives we accuse them of being judgmental.

Judgment will be at the end of time and only God will judge all mankind. Jesus did not have a problem with the common man but with the Pharisees who were self righteous.

So if you are self righteous, yes you are going to have a problem with Jesus , but if you seek truth you will accept him.

If he appeared as before, why wouldn't Christians accept him? But if somebody walking on this earth claims that he is the son of God, he had better be prepared to perform some miracles. And in this day and age, we can record and broadcast "turning water into wine" and "walking on water" and all of that. This time, there wouldn't be any questions, like there were a few thousand years ago, when it may have been a little easier for someone to play some magic tricks.

The majority of Christians I've met won't accept anything. If another "Jesus" came, preaching a new and improved form of Christianity, most won't go for it because they've already "pledged their lives" to their God and will "go to hell" if they decide to worship another superior being. Even though you also go to hell for drinking alcohol on Sundays, having premarital sex, and getting abortions - which millions of Christians do every day. But then again, every Christian I've ever met was a hypocrit, so I'm sure they'll just do whatever's popular because that's all organized religion is - a popularity contest. Who's God is better?

We Christians will know when Jesus returns. We will behold He will be coming in a cloud of glory.
Jesus told us some things have already been judged.
Jesus was not a soft man,He was a carpenter, solid. If He where so soft spoken how did He preach to 5000 with no microphone.Jesus warned us that God is to be feared, that He is not to be played with. That God will spit us out of His mouth if we stand on the fence.
You really need to read the Bible.Jesus sheep hear His voice, and they will follow no other.<><

You've covered many areas in one question. (1) Jesus' referral to judgement was to eternal life. We do not have the right or the power to condemn someone to hell. Remember that elsewhere in the New Testament He said to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and to render unto God what is God's. This means to follow the laws of the land as well as the laws of God. I know, sometimes those overlap, but He expects us to use our good sense in those cases. God's laws come first. (2) I prefer to think of Jesus as a conservative rather than a liberal. Today's liberals are pro-gay and pro-abortion. I dare say Jesus would not be in that crowd. I cannot see Him standing up for the rights of gays. The "rights" you speak of are the "right to choose Him as their personal savior", not the right to be gay or to have an abortion. (3) If Jesus were born of a virgin, today, and grew up proclaiming to be the Son of God, I'm certain He would have just as tough a time as He did 2000 years ago.

I do not have "his" answer, of course. Though the question is an excellent one. For those at all open, a catalyst to healthfully deepening selfreflection and growth hopefully.
It can be hard sometimes, when we feel we know for sure about a situation or circumstance, action, choice, person, etc to really be mature and loving enough to not let it turn into harsh judgement if it goes strongly against our personal values and perspectives.
Yet if we grow, our own values, perspectives, understandings change too. As long as someone is not directly hurting, imprisoning or trying to control another against their will, and likewise ourselves, I'm feeling more & more its just about living OUR life how we feel is "right" for us, and being clear & loving enough to allow others the same freedoms & love to do the same - live according to their values.
We dont have to agree or even like everything, but we have the freedom to choose who we maintain as close friends - minus attempting to control others to live how we see fit. Would we want them to control, judge or imprison us when we feel, perceive & live differently then them? We all have the rights to freedom to learn, live & love according to our own values & inner, sometimes mysterious paths w/o being harrassed, imprisoned or harshly judged for the diversity we all contribute to & enrich life with.

I would like to think people would know better by now and learnt the mistake of one's ancestors and past history. There are still war around the world. And there are people like Jesus' persona who has the same intentions and character trying to promote peace to everyone.

If Jesus appeared today? It's going to be a long hard road for Him, just like when he last visited.

Great question, one I think of often. Honestly, many Christians today display so much hatred for people who are different in any way. Many are racist, judgmental and just cruel. I think those Christians need to remember that Jesus loved everyone and they're supposed to follow his teachings. I do not think many of them would accept him but those are the hypocrites who call themselves Christians. I am not a perfect Christian by any means and yes, I am a sinner at times, just like anyone else but I do have respect and do care for others, regardless of their skin color, religious beliefs or lack of.

I would and will accept him.
