All operating systems suffer from viruses of different kinds. It is just that Windows suffers from the most because more people are used to using windows, that it is the main target for virus writers. Mac's, especially newer ones are less succeptable to viruses. Less people write viruses for Macs and even less for Unix/Linux operating systems. Newer Mac OS's are built on Unix, so they are even less succeptable to viruses. But, with the wider use of Mac's and the availability of the Mac OS on intel processor you can probably start seeing more Mac viruses in the next few years.

So in short, yes you can get a virus, but over 90% of viruses are tailored to Windows computer. So you will most likely come across a Windows virus on Limewire, but Windows viruses will not run on Mac and Unix systems.

There are way fewer viruses made for Macs. Because PC rules the universe Mac gets overlooked. Macs are also much stronger with virus protection, so the few that are out there usually don't get through.

You should be fine with Limewire.

Yes and No. Mac is not as susceptible to viruses simply because it is not as popular as Microsoft's OS's therefore fewer 'targets' for the would-be malicious code writer. That's not to say you are immune to them, but it's not nearly as big of a problem as it is on the Windows platform.

Bottom Line: Limewire is fine, I wouldn't worry about it... Just try not to download any applications...

Hi. No, you can get a virus on any targeted OS. OS X and Linux are not immune, just infrequently targeted for the time being. Virus writers seek 'target rich environments' for the thrill of vandalizing.
