We like to make take and bake pizzas at home. We always have trouble with the melted cheese dripping to the bottom of the oven. It makes a horrible smokey mess. How can I keep from smoking up the house on pizza night?

Well, you are going to have to buy some oven cleaner and follow the instructions and clean your oven to get the old burnt on stuff off....Then you could line the bottom of your oven with some foil when cooking pizza and then you can throw out the gooey cheesy mess when you are done.

Some foil on the rack below the one you use might help.

I usually use one of those cooking stones in the oven because they can be bought in many different sizes and you can get one that fits your oven size and also because the crust is much nicer too.

You might also try putting less cheese on the pizza to prevent it from dripping and causing the smoke.

Also, check how high you set your oven on and consider the environment you live in. If you live in a humid place like I do, you might want to cook at a lower temperature (3-15 degrees less) than usual to avoid smokiness or cook for a shorter time.

Good luck!

Use a cookie sheet or regular pizza pan, then take tin foil and wrap around the cookie sheet. That will prevent spill or dripping. Then clean the oven before you make pizza again. Have a Good Day!

To heck with the foil! Get one of those cut-to-fit silicon oven liners made for this purpose. They rinse right off and you don't get that nasty burnt smell. They're black, not shiny silver, so they look like part of your oven.

Otherwise, make sure the pizza is a bit smaller than the thing you're baking it on. I recommend pizza stones or else pizza pans with the holes so your crust is cooked nice. Putting pizza directly on the oven rack... messy.

Put aluminum foil either directly on the rack under the pizza, or on the bottom of the oven. Makes cleanup really easy.

get a pizza tray(like a cookie tray but made for pizzas) you can purchase this in walmart, or just about anywhere * It leaves no messes* and as for your oven....try cleaning it once in a while therefore the smoke alarm will not be set off and the house will not be filled with smoke on pizza night*~:) also....you can purchase a tin sheet to put on bottom of oven for spills etc.....in any dollar shop or again in walmart.

When you make your pizza, leave a one inch border all around the edge and only sprinkle cheese up to that point and not beyond...that way there's room for the cheese's melting expansion, you may also be using a scosh too much cheese

One of two ways;
Place tin foil at the bottom of the oven
Use a baking pan that is bigger than the pizza, or a pizza stone/block.
