I am curious...what do you think the least violent major religion is in our world. Not just the history of it...but taking into accord the scriptures, the followers, the practice, the laws of the faith. All of it. I know that many wars have been fought in the name of faith. Taking that aside though...and just from baseline observation of the faith and the practice of it's followers, which do you believe to be?

You really cannot get a reliable answer. Most people will answer the religion they know. How am I to know if the Muslim religion practices peace when I never studied it?

But to be fair, I know Buddhist are suppose to be peace loving, but then so was Jesus. I mean how much more non-violent can you be with "Turn the other cheek." and "Do unto others...." Honestly- I think most religions say the same thing- Help others, bring harmony. The problem is so much other stuff gets in the way of the true mean we never get the chance to see it in its pure form.

Major religion- Buddhism or Judaism. Jews tend to fight for practical reasons; I don't remember any Jewish versions the Crusades, Jihad, or Jewish Inquisitions.
Subset of a religion: Quakers (can't believe they haven't been listed yet), and Mennonite (including Amish). We all remember what a Quaker gun is, right? The defense rests.

Well as the first person says True Christians have no part in wars. That is one of the things I love about being one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Whats so great about nonviolence? Look what happened to the Jews in Europe. If someone breaks into your house and plans to kill your family, what would you do? Some people would let 9-11 just slide. I wouldnt.

Based on the religion itself, probably Budhism, Hiduism, Judaism, and Christianity. Also most all of the "asian" religions teach non-violence.

Islam would definately not be, but not because of the radicals we have today. Even Muhammad himself spread his faith by the sword, killing or banishing people, mainly Jews, who did not agree with him.
