As a matter of fact I do know Spirituality, it goes hand in hand with religion.
I guess ignorance IS bliss

When I read a question that I feel I can answer genuinely I do so. If I read something I don’t like, I move on.. I don’t try to force anyone to believe anything.

You know what?
I'll bite.
Because you're obviously new.
"Why would you even be on R&S?"
Oh jeez, I'm sorry. I didn't see the "religious only" sign.
"Why would you come on here just to try to pick at people?"
Please point out where I have actually gone out of my way to insult someone.
If you interpret a legitimate challenge to your faith and beliefs as an attack, that's YOUR ignorance.
"Why waste your life on us?"
Damn good question. Good thing I'm not doing that.
"If you all are so sure of yourself and your life why?"
...why what?
"For once I'd like to see people following the guidelines set up on YA."
Nowhere does it say in the guidelines "You may not challenge the beliefs and dogma of other members."
This is an OPEN FORUM. There are people of many beliefs and practices here, with varying opinions. You don't like it? Leave.
"Do we make you all so insecure?"
Methinks someone's projecting. Turn that pony around.
"You are Choosing to be Here and read this stuff .We are not forcing it on you?"
That second statement is not a question. Learn your punctuation, dear.
Yes... I AM choosing to be here and read this stuff. That does not mean, however, that I have to agree with it and not voice my opinion on it. God may not allow you to think for yourself, but I for one can.
If you want to be a whiny little brat and be a little tattletale whenever someone insults your precious little religious beliefs, that's your prerogative.
However, nowhere, not even in the Y!A Community Guidelines, does it say that religious beliefs are afforded an automatic shield against criticism and ridicule.
Ball's in your court, skippy.

Spirtuality does not go hand in hand with religion. That is your assumption (usually a christian assumption). You cannot claim your way is the correct way when there are too many different religions all claiming to be the right one and all claiming their 'god' is the right one. I do not believe in religion or any spiritual deity yet I consider myself spiritual. Some people are trouble makers. Others, like myself, question everything and want answers that come from the heart and mind and not from a book written and re-written and re-written too many times to count that is full of information that is too preposterous to believe. Some try to get people to truly think for themselves. Not everyone's reason is vindictive.

One more drink before bed!
Have you looked to see how many times this question has been asked? Its part of our drinking game, its so often. I am very qualified to discuss religion and spiritual issues, having been a theology major. I find religious issues very interesting. Yes, I am an atheist, but that doesn't preclude me from talking about religion. I do not feel I am disrespectful, though I am not afraid to speak the truth. I also think its important for people to know that atheists do not have horns and tails.

Well, I'm not religious, and I can only hope this rant is aimed at someone in particular, not everyone in general.
As I said, I'm not religious, but I am spiritual, and I'm sure this section is called Religion and Spirituality, so I think I have a right to be here, not that I have any right to say who does or who doesn't and whether their input is good, bad or indifferent.
It takes all types, and asking any one type to 'go away' is limiting the experience you can gain from the situation.

"If you are not religious, why would you even be on R&S?"
This question gets asked so many times and it is clear that you are either new here or have not been paying attention.
I am an athiest but I am interested in the virus of the human psyche that is any religion at all. I come here to answer questions, even ones as limited in scope as yours.
"Why would you come on here just to try to pick at people? Why waste your life on us?If you all are so sure of yourself and your life why?"
I am not 'picking on people'. If you feel that way, you are surely insecure.
I AM sure of myself and my life and one of my purposes is to plant a seed of logic, reason and/or common sense in the deluded minds of those who believe in an imaginary being.
"For once I'd like to see people following the guidelines set up on YA.Why not let us come here in peace?"
Show me the guidelines that states that atheists cannot state their points of view. You CAN come here in peace but what you mean by that is that you do not want anyone suggesting that your god is fake, that your life is not perfect, that you are being childish, that your prayer requests are answered without being ridiculed by others ... you just want a debate forum which is totally one-sided? How weak.
"Do we make you all so insecure? That you would have to heckle us all when we would like to ask and answer SIMPLE questions?"
Insecure? To think so is a further sign of your delusion. Personally, and I think that I can speak for the majority of atheists here, I have never felt more secure than when I dumped the concept of religion. Sometimes, your questions are too simple, reflecting your intelligence, such as this question. Isn't the answer obvious to you? Does it really have to be explained?
"Do you realize you are SEEKING us?"
Now why would you think that we are seeking you? For what real purpose? Some atheists just get a lot of pleasure out of poking fun at religious people, Let's face it. religious people ARE a fair target for ridicule, even if they can't see that for themselves. Other atheists have a more mature attitude and simply want to offer religious people an insight into reality, where god is clearly an imaginary entity, invented by man, and the sooner that everyone on this planet realises that, the better it will be for all mankind.
"We are not PUSHING anything on you?"
Oh yes you are!! You are pushing in government, you are pushing in education, your cousins in the islamic branch are pushing in un-necessary death and destruction, you are pushing in the freedom of gays to marry and you are pushing at the freedom of a woman's right to have an abortion should she wish. You are pushing for birth control to be outlawed, you are pushing for priests to remain celibate. You are pushing for women not to be allowed to be priests. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Religious people are VERY pushy!!!
"You are Choosing to be Here and read this stuff .We are not forcing it on you?"
The only true statement you have made so far.
"HMMM prob.not"
This part I do not understand.
I am not forcing THIS on you but read it and think ...
Ever since mankind had evolved to the point where 'he' could think clearly, he has been afraid. Afraid of the unknown, afraid of disaster, afraid for his survival ... So, he invented gods to protect him. This has been the pattern ever since. 2000-plus years ago, the same thing popped up and this after Zeus and his merry band were elbowed.
The pattern is that man creates god and NOT the other way around. Anyone who believes in the existence of a supernatural entity floating about somewhere with direct influence on the lives of the human race is severely deluded and living in a fantasy world. This is SO clear yet the bet is that you will reuse to accept it, such is your delusion and gullibility.

because you need to be taught a lesson. You bastards try to convert everyone - it's your great commission right? Well our great commission is to open your eyes. We're not doing well because you have been brainwashed from childhood to believe one way - and getting you to see the light is often hard. But we will keep trying - making logical arguments - having you come up with pseudo science and false statements and just waiting for your long haired hippie superhero to come back and magically fly the true believers up to heaven. As an FYI - he will not.

This is an area for discussions about religion, not a site for the religious. Your inability to distinguish the two is disturbing. Perhaps you should leave.
