He has been given lessons a few times by the missionaries but refused to read and pray to know whether Joseph smith is the true prophet or not because he believes strongly that his own church is true and therefore is not willing to read the book of mormon and pray to know the truth. So the missonary concluded by saying the more educated a person, the less humble he is even when it comes religious beliefs plus someday, he will be sorry when he finds out that he is wrong when he is on the other side while the missionary will be happy to say, I told you so. My question is: just because a person is not willing to accept/convert to another faith, does that mean he/she is not humble enough to open their hearts/minds to learn the truth? The mormons can be smug about their beliefs sometimes that the rest of the world are all going to the wrong churches while they're the only true church on earth.

I know it seems that sometimes the members of the LDS faith, I am one of them so you know, can seem smug about our religion. I know why they do that, it's becasue we believe that our faith is the only true and living church on the Earth.

In answer to your question, it was kind of confusing, so forgive me if I have misunderstood. For some people, it can be hard when you are told that your church is not the true church. We do, however, believe that the is truth in other churches, and that is why we send out our missionaries. We don't send them out to tell the world that they are wrong, but to share the joy we know, and to ADD to what you already know, not take away.

I hope this helps you understand us a little more.

I think you might be generalizing a little bit. I have been born and raised in the LDS church and I've always been taught that I have the right to decide for myself what is right for me. A "cult" wouldn't tell me that.

I do agree with you that just because a person doesn't want to change their beliefs...that doesn't make them close-minded. As long as they consider everything in a respectful manner...that's all you can ask for out of anyone.

The missionary is wrong. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though in the book of Moroni it tells us to judge, it refers to judging between whether something is wholesome and uplifting or opposite. Therefore, in this instance it should be applied to "judge not others"; this referring to judging somebody's sprituality and level of righteousness.

The missionary is out to serve the people, not the people to serve him.

It is the Holy spirit that converts and not to Mormonism but the truth of Gods word, sounds like he may have a pride problem, the word is clear not all are Gods children we also have the demon seed! And they will not convert!

The problem with this, of course, is subjectivity. While a Christian may not claim the Mormon was insincere when he prayed to God for a "burning in the bossom," the Mormon is taught to tell a Christian that he/she was insincere when he/she converted. It is the very height of arrogance!

No. In his case it seems like he used the God-given holy reason he was born with .... and made the smart choice.

What your friend lacked was not humility, but stupidity. Good for him!

Mormon is a cult religion and the doctrines are more on evil deeds.
