So why do people think of an apple? One reason is that the Latin word for evil is malum and the Latin word for apple is also malum.

In the fourth century AD, the word malum appeared in the Latin Vulgate translation of Genesis in the phrase ‘the tree of knowledge of good and evil’. From that time on people began to associate the apple with the fruit which Eve ate.

But Eve did not eat the fruit of the apple tree—she ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Because Eve, and consequently Adam, disobeyed God’s Word, we are still suffering the consequences. As the Apostle Paul stated in the letter he wrote in AD 55 to the Church at Rome: ‘Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned’ (Romans 5:12).

While it is often said to be an apple, it is not the type of fruit that is relevant in the story. Given the area, it might well be a fig or other tree.
3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.
5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye,

The tree of the " knowledge" of good and evil ! How can a actual tree know anything? How can a tree decide what is good and what is evil? That alone tells you it is not an actual tree. You have heard of a family tree. Well this tree mentioned is the head of this family meaning satan. Satan is the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And they were told not to partake of his fruit , which they did . Next thing eve is pregnant with twins. So the fruit was sex and all the unclean variations thereof. Most people can figure out what the next soap opera will bring but they can't figure this out. Some of you people should know better. PS Fruit as used is strongs #
2233 = seed, carnally. Tree as used is strongs# 0352= strong man, chief, leader. beguiled in the strongs means wholly seduced

It was a fruit unknown to this day. It was a single tree that God created for a specific purpose. Why an Apple? Probably because that is what artists paint in most still lifes and were good at it. Most people could not read and went by what they saw in the paintings.

The bible never says the forbidden fruit is an apple...it could have been a banana, or a cumquat. Hmmm, I've never thought about those 2 fruits together before...banana...cumquat. It's almost like it was meant to be! Whoever those fruit namers were back in the B.C. days had some really dirty minds!

When the Bible said "Apple", what it really meant was "Adam's balls". I admit, I was confused at first too, but if you go through the entire Bible and replace "Apple" with "Adam's balls", the whole big thing starts to make a lot of sense. Wait till The DaVinci Code II comes out...they'll explain it better.

The ancient Hebrew accounts do not specify any fruit, but if you take in the vicinity of the garden, you might be convinced that the serpent tempted Eve with a pomegranite! lachime!

"Of all the trees in the garden thou mayest freely eat but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou mayest not eat for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die"
God was very explicit, Eve was beguiled
