My hair right now is quite dull and dry and the fact that it's black sort of makes it look even more dull. I want to restore it but I'm not sure which type of shampoo would be efficient for giving it a shine. Any suggestions?
Oh, and I hear Pantene leaves a coat of wax on your hair. Is this true for all Pantene hair products both shampoo and conditioner? Or is it only Pantene Pro-V?

1) To remove product build-up use a clarifying shampoo about once a week. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is the best one I've found.

2) Pantene conditioners are great. Their shampoos are okay.

3) Joico K-Pak shampoo & conditioner is the best shampoo for dry, dull hair I've used.

I have very thick, coarse, long hair. It has always been coarse & thick, but not always long. I have tried just about every shampoo & conditioner out there. There are 2 that I like. If I'm on a more restricted budget, I prefer Finesse products. It doesn't weigh my hair down & it feels light & flowy all day long. The other, (my absolute favorite) is Redkin All Soft products. I'm not sure what is in this shampoo & conditioner, but it's absolutely wonderful. In fact it has helped me grow my hair long while moisturizing it & preventing split ends. I should also say, that I will only blow-dry my hair & rarely use a curling iron on my hair. I have a cut that will let me blow dry the style in or let it dry natuarally. I will often use just a super light coating of a Shine Solution or a quick spray of hairspray to hold the body through the day. Redkin products can be purchased at a salon & I've even seen them in some Targets or Wal-Mart Salons.

Good luck.......I would have never tried the Redkin if someone hadn't given me a sample.

I suggest you go with all-natural hair care products. Unnatural hair care products strip your hair of vital nutrients, contain few quality ingredients, and ULTIMATELY prevent hair growth, shine, and softness.

Look for products with ingredients such as: Aloe Vera, Citrus Fruits, Jojoba, Rosemary, and Sage. Citrus ingredients will particularly make your hair shiny. Make sure you stray away from natural products that use natural extracts. Extracts are not as powerful as essentials oils. They are a cheap substitute for the real thing. Although there are several natural hair care products on the market, not all hair products are created equal. Make sure you read the fine print. Most “natural” products still contain phosphates, sodium lauryl sulfate, petroleum, mineral oil, and other lab created humectants that ultimately damage your hair. My advice---if you can’t read the ingredients, don’t buy the product

I have used several natural shampoos and conditioners, like Giovanni, Aubrey's, and Burt Bees, but none of them compare ingredient wise or in their effectiveness to Beauty 4 Ashes GodHead Silky Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner.
Their hair care products rejuvenated my hair, smelled great, and made my hair shiny, super soft, and full. Their products are all- natural and do not contain any harsh chemicals or detergents that rob your hair of moisture. Plus, their products are made primarily aloe vera and essential oils. The essential oils are specifically for circulating blood flow to your scalp to make it healthier and for increasing the length and fullness of your hair. It has organic active ingredients and is sulfate free so it wont dry out your hair, plus...it smells awesome! They have different collections for different hair types which are all amazing! You can get Organix at Target, Kroger, Albertsons, Duane Reade, Safeway, etc. You'll love it!

Mix 1 cup vinegar with water, pour through your hair after washing & rinsing it. Use Neutrogena shampoo once a week to remove build up, though just a vinegar rinse should work as well.

Pantene is not a good product--yes, it's full of wax.
Here's a few you might like:
--Redken All Soft
--Bed Head Self Absorbed
--Biolage Hydrating (and conditioning balm)
--Catwalk Fashionista

Go to a beauty-supply store and ask your questions. It sounds as though you might need a hot-oil treatment. You can buy these from Wal-Mart or some such store. Very easy to use in the shower.

Garnier Fructis. You can get it especially for extra shine. And it has worked miracles with my hair, because it's thin and it used to look greasy but not anymore! You can get it at WalMart. It's the best, I wouldn't trade it for a thing!
