All my life, my parents took me to different Christian churches, my Mom was searching for one just right for her. I've gone to just about every Protestant church, and have always believed in the works of God and Jesus, and tried to live by Bible standards.

When I was very depressed and sick once, I thought that God must not exist because a loving God wouldn't let horrible things happen to people living by his rules. But it was a very short lived lack of faith. I was very blessed to be surrounded by caring people who helped me find solace in prayer and answers in the Bible.

God is real to me because when I see a newborn baby, an ocean, a field of wildflowers, acts of faith in others, all the everyday miracles that cannot just be random. Its a matter of faith.

Why God would let bad things happen. This is the hardest part for me to grasp. The text answer is because he gave Adam and Eve perfect life, free will, and just one stipulation, not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The devils temptation and their rebelling against God meant that sin was created and inheirited to all his offspring, including us. We are in a time of "testing" by God, seeing how we will live, act and if we will follow his commandments and accept Jesus sacrifice. The bad things aren't created by God, they are concieved by man, and when we are ressurected into paradise, we will have no memory of bad things, we will once again enjoy a peaceful, warless world of all the blessings he promises his faithful ones.

As far as the truth of the Bible, scientifically there is much proof of the timelines, events and people mentioned in other recordings of the times. The miracles are accepted on faith.

Whatever you are searching for, I hope you find it. For more information on the type of religion that is most likey to match your beliefs, go to beliefnet.com and take their interactive quiz. Or just find a person who looks peaceful, happy, and has hope, and ask them what their beliefs are. Its a great journey.

The faith I was born with was ruined by the Roman Catholic Church, I fled from religion entirely. Then I studied psychology, philosophy, science and realized there is more to understand than what is obvious to us. Mind and brain are not the same thing although they work together. We can't live one without the other. No one can fully explain how or why. I always admired God's Creation and I knew absolute truth existed. I was drawn to God's Word and here I am. My faith has sustained me through more tragedies than I can share right now.

How long? About five years

Have you ever walked away from your faith and came back ? If so why ? Not since I've become a Christian by the Word of God.

How do u know that God is real ? and the bible is true ? Because I have understanding that it is.

Why would a God let so many bad things happen ??? Every Christian has asked this question and needs an answer. There are many answers. Start looking for them.

It is hard to say I was born into the faith, but that pretty much covers it. I would say that it was not a deep faith or real to me until 1990. I realized that my previous Church time was more of a social event or something to do.

I was at a cross roads in my life and a car crash convinced me to choose God. You could say I was wrestling with him this whole time. He became very real that day and other times he has reaffirmed this in a very real sense.

I believe the Bible is true. No one has proven it false. Every time I read the Bible it "speaks" to me.

As others have stated our free will is why so many bad things happen. God did not wish things to be this way and several times tried to lead us in ways that would keep bad things from happening. There will come a day that he rights all wrongs and evil will be no more.

If free will is a hard concept think of this. You have a child and they are doing something that could cause them harm. You say "do not do that or you might get hurt." You later see the child doing it again. You might spank them or tell them to stop again, but if it will not kill them you might find that pain too is a great teacher.

I have been a follower of God's for most of my life. Yes I have walked away a few times and have come back. For most of my life I never followed a religion, just God and the bible. In December the Lord led me to His church and Iam in the process of becoming a Roman Catholic Christian. I know for a fact God is real He has shown me many times and ways He exists and that He truly loves me. God does not make bad things happen. Bad things happen to all people. Some by choices we make and some by circumstances we place ourselves in.. But there are lessons in the bad things as well as the good things and you should thank God for the bad along with the good.

I grew up curious about God. My family wasn't terribly religious, but I did learn about the different stories and such. The more curious I got throughout high school especially, the more I went to different churches to get different points of view. I found the church I go to and found a lot of meaning and connected really well with the people. We have a common bond and are like an extended family. I truly feel the spirit at my church.

I know he's real because I can feel his presence. I can feel the immense love from Him. I think everyone comes to a turning point as they learn about God where they have to decide what road to take at some point in their Christian walk. I almost decided to go away from church, but it felt so alien and scary I couldn't walk away, not after everything God has done for me.

The bible is true, you learn that through faith and trusting God. God doesn't necessarily "let" bad things happen. He gave everyone the free will to choose between good and evil. People do bad things, not God. God isn't a spiritual rapist. He created people as creatures who have a conscious choice of whether we love Him back or not.

I just wanted to respond to the person who thinks that "tolerance" is affirming someone else's belief. That is wrong by dictionary definition.

Tolerance: a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.

Key word int hat is "permissive"

Permit: to allow.

To tolerate is to allow. It is objective. Allowing someone else to do what they believe in. The objective allowance isn't a value judgment as far as truth value.

I went to a Christian church. I've been a Christian my whole life. I've never really walked away per se, but I have fallen into sin and repented. But we're all human. We know God's real because the bible has been proven right. Scientists have proven what the bible says is true. God lets bad things happen because we chose it. Eve ate the apple, when God said no, and Eve let Satan into the world. God doesn't do the bad stuff, Satan does. We chose it for ourselves.

I decided to mean business with God when I was a teenager, and have been a Christian for more than 40 years. I've had questions for God, but He has never left me or forsaken me. I've experienced the death of a child, loss of a job. I have a wonderful role model of my mother who is 92, in terrific pain & still chooses to praise God. Through it all, I've learned to trust in Jesus, learned to take Him at His Word.

What is my worldview? Answer: Worldviews have consequences, and false worldviews can be disastrous. The Bible speaks to all of life, and its teachings compete with false worldviews for our allegiance. Since only the biblical worldview accurately describes reality, we need to implement it to avoid disaster. Moreover, to do that, we need to be good stewards of our minds, learning to think biblical and to apply biblical truth to all areas of life.

How do I know what's true? Answer: Our society has embraced an idea of "tolerance." Tolerance demands that we affirm that all views are equally valid. We have adopted a relativistic view that denies there is any fixed turth, and that whatever works for you is true for you. Ulitmately, not everything can be true: if one thing is truie, it excludes others as flse. The Bible tgeaches that Jesus is the only Truth, and the biblical worldview is true and all others are false.

Why would God let so many bad things happen?
Answer: Humans cannot enjoy both free will and a world free from sin. Once God chose to create human beings with free will, it was up to them . . . as to whether there was sin or not.
People do not get away with evil acts, even though they may seem to. God will one day settle the accounts. Evildoers will be punished for the suffering they have caused; the righteous will be rewarded.

But let's look at the alternative explanation: the question of why God would allow such suffering—does that mean that God does not exist? If He doesn't exist, there is still suffering, but there is no chance for redemption.

God gave mankind free will, He does not cause bad things, but if He denies man his free will, then there is no purpose and meaning in life.
It would be fairly common for people to have moments of weakness of faith.
