This question is drivel. I can name a dozen militaries more capable than NK. NK is just the 4th largest. NK is over-rated by people who don't even know anything about the military and think that a large army equates a capable army. SK is a much more capable military now than the NK.

USA
Britain
Israel
Germany
Russia
China
South Korea
India
Egypt
Iran
France
Salvation

There, thats a dozen.

NK would only be tough because they can shell Seoul without leaving their mountain bunkers. They have a lot of very outdated artillery. The only thing they could do is take a long time to kill off because of 50 years of "Fortressization." In other words, they have a lot of mountain hidey-holes. There is zero force projection capability. They literally are using WWII and Korean war vintage equipment.

Just curious. Where did your information come from? Except for the USA on top, it appears this list is the largest militaries which has little relation to best or most capable. Iraq had the fourth largest military before the first Gulf War but it was on the World War I model. China is modernizing fast but they still have little ability to project power. Russia's military is a joke except that they still have a bunch of nukes. I could believe Korea as number five but have a hard time with northern Korea.

I would have to believe that, even though they are small by comparison, Great Britain ,France, and Israel would have to be in the top five (at least for now). China and especially India are the up and coming powers and Europe in general is in a terminal slide.

There is quite a difference between the fifth best and the fight largest. I think north Korea has many men in uniform, but with old/crappy equipment. The idiot who said the US is not that high is such a fool it's a joke. I hope he is kidding. We have never lost a war game with any country since the early 80's. We spend more on the military than the next 5 nations combined. Honestly though, did you dream this list up? India/Iran? Are you serious?

According to the US State Department, North Korea has the fourth-largest military in the world, at an estimated 1.21 million armed personnel, with about 20% of men ages 17-54 in the regular armed forces.[20] Annual military spending is estimated as high as $5 Billion USD (20% of GDP), compared with South Korea's $21.06 Billion USD (2.5% of GDP).[21] North Korea has perhaps the world's second-largest special operations force (estimated at 100,000 as of 2002),[22] designed for insertion and sabotage behind enemy lines in wartime.[23]

The United States is considered to have the most powerful military in the world, partly because of the size of its defense budget; American defense expenditures in 2005 were estimated to be greater than the next 14 largest national military budgets combined,[37] even though the U.S. military budget is only about 4% of the country's gross domestic product.[38][39] The U.S. military maintains over 700 bases and facilities, distributed throughout every continent except Antarctica.[40] Much of U.S. military capability is involved in logistics and transportation, which enable rapid buildup of forces as needed. The Air Force maintains a large fleet of C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster, and C-130 Hercules transportation aircraft with an equally large fleet of aerial refuelling tankers. The Marine Corps maintains Marine Expeditionary Units at sea with the Navy's Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. The Navy's fleet of 11 active aircraft carriers, combined with a military doctrine of power projection, enables a flexible response to potential threats. For these reasons, the United States military is universally considered the most powerful in the world.

not even close. probably between lowest, yet not optimum. In all fact, it may desire to be complicated to wisely come to a decision that by way of fact Western media could often have faith in North Korean government presented education and all human beings be attentive to how precise that could desire to be.

N Koreans are pretty much fanatic brainwashed human zombies. If we go to war with N. Korea, we need to be prepared to use neutron bombs as they will throw masses upon masses of suicide troops in waves at us. Our technology is unequaled.
