I believe he was being influenced by Satan, and his demons, especially because of the tape he made.
The Bible says that "Satan is the God of this bad system of things, and he is blinding many peoples minds." Satan loves violence, and he uses certain people to do his bidding. Especially since he is an immortal soul, and cannot take on human form. How many people on drugs, or with mental issues, see something, or hear something in their heads.
Most likely it is Satan and his demons doing this. Some might not believe their is a Devil, but I do. For I'm a Bible reader, and I believe what it says about him.
When Jesus was on earth he removed demons out of many people. Found at Mark 1:32-34. Once their was a young girl who was bullying people, and she was mentally sick to. Jesus apostles removed this Demon out of her, and she was better. The Bible also speaks of the "One Isolating himself will seek his own selfish longing." At Proverbs 18:1. We know that this Boy who killed all those people, was always a loner. So he definitely is described in that scripture.
Today in many songs, movies, and video games, violence is celebrated, no wonder why kids think it is good to resort to violence if they are being repressed. This of course is a trait of Satan the Devil. Devil means opposer, also he is a liar, and the wicked one.

I don;t see why a lot of christians are quick to assume the actions, however violent, are the work of being posessed, when he clearly suffered from a mental illness that impaired his ability to think logically. If you look at everything logically, both from a religious viewpoint and scientific, you will find that the excuse of demonic posession is nothing short of absurd.

Of course not! demons had as much to do with this as the tooth fairy did.
Anyone who blames evil imaginary friends for all bad things in the world will never understand real problems & the reasons why they happen. That's why we cannot make progress, because people like you credit imaginary beings with the good & bad.

I'm sorry, I seem to have wandered into the Yahoo Answers site for children. The talk of "demons" gave it away. I'll get out of your way.

He wasn't possessed. Jesus Christ was not responsible for his actions. He was a very disturbed person. That's it.

no. I see him as a pathetic loser with severe depression and anger issues and a bad case of self delusions. I think he wanted his few seconds of fame and he got what he wanted. he was one who longed to feel important and by insuring that people would talk about him and wonder about his state of mind for a while to come, he placed himself on the pedestal of grandeur he was looking for posthumously.

Nice excuse. Demons have been blamed for so many things, what about personal responsibility? Or is that unpopular with fundamentalists?

If he was a victim of anything, it was of mental illness, not supernatural possession.
