I did on online translation that said "mono"-- but I wanted to know from a native speaker if that was correct.

Thanks!

Thanks!!
I work with little kids who are learning to speak English and I am dying to tell them they are so cute in their native language!
(Mono/Monkey might be great for a couple of the little boys! LOL)

Male--Guapo--El chico es guapo. (The boy is cute)

Female--Guapa--La chica es guapa. (The girl is cute)

Object--Bonito(a)--El jarron es bonito. (The vase is cute)

"Mono" is also used sometimes in Spain; i.e. Ese chico es muy mono. (That guy is very cute).

Careful! Mono also means "monkey"!!

In my opinion, "guapo(a)" just sounds better. It is also used more often.

"Mono" is an informal word, besides it isn´t used in every Spanish speaking country. You can also say "lindo", or "churro" (this one is a very informal Argentinian word). In my opinion, "guapo" would be the best word for it.
Be careful! Mono also means "monkey" so if you say that someone is "mono" it´s OK, but if you say he´s A "mono" you might be insulting him. To be on the safe side, use "guapo"·
hope this helps

In Mexico, you say "chulo(a)".
But be careful!
In some parts chulo is a pimp and in Puerto Rico
it's a type of vulture!
Amazing how words can change meanings that way!

You can also say "curioso or curiosa" if it is a girl.
Do NOT say mono in Mexico, not a common way of saying it, and they won't respond well to it most of the time.
