I have been on disability for almost a year now.
I am tired all the time and hurt. Exercise has helped.
I can not afford my medications sometimes.
I am trying not to lose my home, a modest doublewide.
I will have to file bankrupcy.
I run out of money about this time each month.
I am not asking for hand outs.
Yes I believe and trust in God. My faith is strong, but the flesh is weak.
Where do I go for help?

I get STRS Disability. They tell me I am not eligible for medicare, medicaid, food stamps, HUD, social security.

I ask this here because I am on this forum the most and consider all of you my friends.

Thanks for your responses so far. You have exceeded beyond my expectations. I was so afraid to post this.

I am not allowed to 'teach' because that is what I am disabled from...not even online tutoring..I was all set up for that...big bummer for me.

I have autoimmune hepatitis, hypothroidism, diabetes, low white cell count...rarely not at alert levels, sleep apnea, anemia, and arthritis.

I take Celexa for depression, Novalog Insulin, Ursodiol, Prednisone>:\ for the liver, Synthroid
for the thyroid, and once in a while, hydrocodone for pain.

Have been exercising and trying to lose weight...coming off slowly.:)

Don't smoke, drink, or abuse drugs.

I can not give you money; but May I pray for you?

Can U ask for help in any church or your community?
Can you work at home?
Maybe you can teach something at home... or to sell handcrafts... or maybe to have a call center at home and work making calls and sending e-mails.

I found some sites:
www.homeextramoney.com
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/invest/homewrk.shtm
http://www.bizhome.org/work-from-home.php

God bless U!

I have been where you are now. It is not fun, but I learned something. The Lord will provide our needs.

I can remember sitting down with my head in my hands and asking how in the world I was going to keep the house. I don't know. Somehow the car just did not break down. I had a job. I was not able to do it well because of the disability. Somehow they had mercy on me, and moved into a position I could do. The position gave me a lot of free time. I did a lot of praying. I lost a lot of potential jobs because I could not pass the physical. They were really good jobs. It just made me sick at my stomach, literally, every time that happened. One day I passed the physical and got a good job.

I don't know what else to say. Time is your friend. Just keep the faith. Read Job. The Lord will provide. I wish I could tell you how, or when, but I just don't know.

I am in the same situation as you. Fortunately I live in Canada and all my medical bills are covered and medications. However I do not make enough to live on off of govt disability aid. So I go more "in the hole" every month. Over the 15 years that I have been disabled I have found that God has always been there for me and gives me a peace in my heart that keeps me from losing heart. I really think the secret is to maintain a good relationship with God and seek to live righteously as best you can. Jesus "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousnaess and all these things (talking about food and clothing etc) will be added to you. Trust God as your provider and though we may live "on the edge of the financial
cliff" my experience is that God always seems tocome through and some how we make ends meet. Look up! I think the answer lies in your confidence and trust in God.

Have you ever thought about doing a home business like ebay stuff? You can sell things online for people and you don't have to leave your home. I know there are books on home businesses all over the place, and you can probably look it up online. Just becase you're on disability doesn't mean you can't have some sort of job.

i've got faith that the officer would desire to administration the area with the aid of being expert, no longer with the aid of asking permission ok? the cop is on top of issues, I labored in an area the place my returned up could be 20 minutes away. I controlled the area with the aid of command presence and coaching no with the aid of asking the perp if he became into comfortable with what became into going on-- Amy chew me!

Write to the manufacturer of your medications. Most of the drug companies have programs that provide free medication.

Also visit or call the nearest Community Action office. They can help you with numerous things.

If there is a St. Vincent De Paul group in your area they will also assist you in many ways. You do not have to be Christian to get help from them.

Honey, I hurt for you because I have been there.
I don't claim to have the answers, but maybe a few more ideas to try to help.

How about your church. Not all are geared or equipped to help, but some are.

How about a Christian roommate - does your church have a bulletin board?

There is a medicine manufacturer that will help if you cannot afford your meds - I think it is Astra-Zenica???

Does your community offer any type of help or advice?

I will pray for you! Love ya!

I am sorry you are one of the many who find out the hard way, teachers get shafted if they get disabled. Keep your head up. Is there any way you can return to work? this happened to a friend of mine and she said she really has no words of wisdom. Just cut every corner and look for a way to make a few pennies here and there.

I myself have been on the verge of bankruptcy many times. I can only say that God has always provided for me in some way shape or form. It might not have been what I expected or all I needed but it was enough to cover what had to be done at the time. Continue to pray and believe. God provides for the birds of the field, how much more will he provide for you?

I'm sorry, I'm from Europe, so I know far too less about US laws and regulations to advise you what to do.

I just wanted to tell you how much I admire you posting this here. Must have been hard to do that. Good luck, I wish you all the best, and I hope some American will know how to help you, or at least how to point you in the right directions.
