Have they achieved anything of value. they're just a bunch of useless morons who take their orders from the same people that cause all the problems in the world.

You have put it in a nutshell. Exactly. That is the true condition of the UN. Full of absolute spineless and selfish morons who don't care if a million people are killed as long as they get their fat pay and expenses.

Their main job is to rubber stamp all US decisions.

The UN is utterly useless. Either we have a one-world government or we don't even bother. It's a pointless waste of money - stuffy old fools who take orders from politicans with a thousand different conflicting interests; a stupid remnant of an imperial past. How is it fair France and Britain have a veto but Germany, the most powerful nation in Europe, Japan, the second wealthiest in Asia (after China) and India, the world's most populous democracy don't? But it doesn't matter anyway, because just about every important UN decision is vetoed by someone whose interests aren't served by it.

If the UN were ever to be effectual it should have the power to punish nations who go against its will (by invading other countries without a UN mandate for instance), not just pathetic sanctions which do nothing. It should have its own independent army who could actually be of use in peacekeeping operations, or in bringing and end to genocide in Darfur. As it is you may as well just slap the dictators on the wrist unless the interests of Britain, France, Russia, China AND the US are served by taking them out - something which is never going to happen. Corrupt dictatorships are simply too profitable for the arms traders.

Well i think morons is a bitof a harsh tone word

but the Un has turned inot what used to be the league of nations as set up after the first world war.

The powers of trade embargoe's have been nulified by the politics of the other countries, the fact nobody will enforce them.

And lets face it, the US have made them look a bit silly and ignored their advise anyway

Of course the UN is useless, half the world governments vote for one thing and the other half ignore the vote.

UN does do good but they move at an extremely slow pace which makes it seem at times like they are useless, and sadly sometimes they are useless but they are trying to do good

no your not. i believe. we should stop paying our dues. scrap the un and start again. we fund most of it and they tell us what to do with our money. i think the big guys should be re thought out like if a company falls from the dow jones . so russia france wouls be voted off the island because they are insignificant. they do what they want to do anyway. ie we embargo iraq they continue to buy oil from them. like the rules only apply to america and noone else. when iran puts a missle in their back yard they still wont admit that they f**ked up. it will still be our fault. to hell with the world.let us look out for us no one else will.

The UN is useful. The developed countries use it to keep the smaller ones in check.

I couldn't agree with you more, when it comes down to the world powers the UN seems to be very ineffectual in dealing with them.

No you are not alone.

The U.N simply sits in their HQ complaining about some nation which has done something they do not want. After all where was the U.N in the world's most desperate situations?

I believe the U.N. headquarters should be turned into housing for the working poor
