Dying for your country is the height of foolishness. The country you are born into is just assigned by chance. For example, just say you die for your country, X, in a war against country Y. You could have just as easily been born in country Y and you would have felt just as passionately about country Y. As Bill Hicks said when someone asked him what made him an American: "Well, my parents f***ked there..."
On the other hand, if you live for your country you can help make it a better place. A no brainer, really.

Not being a suicide bomber or advocate of it's practise, I am not qualified to answer from experience, however, it would be smarter to live for your country when you want to just have a place to call home. Peace.

*I would say to die by committing suicide, for your country is "whatever"! Wouldn't you want to at least fight for your country rather than make it look bad to the many other country's and to crate more hatred all over the world? To live is what makes your country, YOUR COUNTRY! But to have pride and appreciation I think is enough and sometimes that's the only option you may have is you are a civilian, but fighting is what makes America truly free!

It's better to live - that's why the Iranians employ the tactic of sending children out as their suicide bombers instead of soldiers.

I think all suicide bombers should be put in a room and all blow themselves up at the same time !
They are worthless pieces of sh!te and don't deserve a life in the first place !
