Most alchoholic beverages taste so nasty you drink more to numb your throat or to get drunk so you can't taste. By then you don't care so you drink some more. Some people think it is cool too

Once you have drank several times, you grow a stronger tolerance to the effects the alcohol has on the endorphins in your brain. So while your body still has the same effect your brain is telling you that you need 12 beers this time not 8 to achieve the same intoxicating effect. Or some other reasons, some people have addictive personalities, some people have learned this behavior as a coping device.they say you can inherit addictions..a constant need for a depressant...or you drink soooo much that withdrawal can be so painful you drink almost just to get sober effect on your body back to what is comfortable and "normal" to you...........so basically, there own brains tell them to crave it.

I think most people who drink to excess are stressed/unhappy/addicted.
I have a good friend is is a very together, very responsible guy. He has tremendous stress in his life and every once in a blue moon, he will come home on a Friday night and drink until he falls asleep in his chair and we're all left to listen to his snoring and hope he dosn't get alcohol poisoning!

Stress, depression, life in general sometimes.
Some people like the taste of alcohol too.

people say they drink to relax, after work for those people have jobs.
excess drinking is bad!
drink moderately and no drunk driving

Sometimes I drive myself, but that is really irresponsible so I really try to make sure I have a designated driver to take me to the bars so I can get HAMMERED!!!!! :P
