Unbelievable, during the two hours he was missing(after killing the first students), he actually took the time to make a video, take photos, and mail all of this to NBC news by express mail. My question is how did he have this much free time without police getting to school in time? I'm putting this in the religion category because he was obviously under some type of demonic influence, and CHOSE to act on it. The video of him is here

I just read the notes at the link above, and it says he took the photos previously, but may have taken the video during his 2 hr break. He also sent long rants about how rich greedy people didn't care how Jesus was killed on the cross, and other things. He was spiritually lost, and being isolated he was under some type demonic influence.

Carly you missed the point. Of course a murder can't be solved in 2 hrs. But in 2 hours the killings could have been announced over the campus speakers, or at least some of the entrance doors watched. NONE of the doors were secured within those 2 hrs, and NONE of the students were notified even after the earlier killings were discovered.

The police or school did not need to know who the killer was to notify the students they were in danger. That could have at least allowed the students to secure their doors. That's how one classroom was able to keep the shooter out. When they knew he was coming, they put large furniture etc against the door. At least that could have slowed things down for many students, and gave police time to enter. The police and school did not act fast enough, and they should implement better ways of notification after this.

Dave the fact that he was born and raised a Christian does not mean he could not have been influenced by demons. That's who demons attack the most. Even christians must choose to follow God or Satan. People are too quick to call evil crazy. He knew exactly what he was doing if you ask me.

The police and school had several red flags a few years before this tragedy. The school even put in their records that he was mentally ill and a danger to himself and others. That was 2 yrs ago.

The police are part of the problem, not part of the solution!

Does anyone ever and I mean ever look at any event and put their selves in the place of the police? They did not know it was him at the first shooting. They were looking for someone else because of the info they were given. They had no idea who he was and that he was going to do what he did.
Why would they think that? They thought the first killing was b/f-g/f thing and that the killer had ran. Jeez, wake up already.
No one saw him kill the first two people. They were dead and therefore had nothing to say as to who shot them. Even if the killer would have stayed in that same building, still they would not have known it was him. Gee whiz, read the newspaper and watch TV but don't listen to the idiots on TV that do nothing but speculate. They are MORONS. Idiots.

They were investigating the first shooting at the time. I believe they ended up detaining the boyfriend of one of the first two victims because he was the only person seen leaving the room.

The second set of shootings took place in a different part of the campus. VT has a very large campus and its buildings are spread out. It also has a large percentage of people who live off campus and there is always a great deal of traffic.

It was not demonic influence. He was born and raised a christian.

You expect a crime of murder to be solved in TWO hoursWhat the hell is wrong with you???? Police/swat teams were looking for a man with no description at that time. They were interviewing people like crazy, but no one at that point could firmly ID the shooter. Remember, he had killed two people at that point with no credible witnesses, and they thought him / her to be a jealous boyfriend. There are thousands of students at VT. Do you really expec them to just say, " Oh, it must be Cho. Let's go get him." Come on, get a realistic grip.

Oh, are the police supposed to be everywhere at every single second? Aren't there felons and murderers that are still not in custody? How much are you willing to pay in taxes to have a policeman for say, every 5 people 24 hours a day, and how much freedom are you willing to give up? Maybe the police should have been in every single room and every single toilet and behind every single bush at that univeristy. But of course, then the rest of us would have NO police. Please get real.

It's amazing how little support a post like yours will receive on Yahoo Answers. From what I've gathered around here, the majority of people think he was a victim - that giving him a hug may have prevented his demonic rampage.

I don't know who's more delusional - the shooter or the people who think it's society's fault he murdered 30+ people.

The police did not have an identity on the shooter yet and assumed taht he had escaped and was done. They were mistaken obviously.

In hindsight, the campus should have been on a lock down.

The police are usually the last to know when someone 'goes postal', and then they're left to risk their lives in a shoot out & clean up the mess. There should be more police & less guns, not the other way around.

Whatever made you imagine the purpose of police is to prevent crime? Cops never do a damn thing until after the damage is done. What else could you expect from a nominally Christian society that denies political representation to 60% of its population and dares to call itself a democracy?

It is not the job of the police to keep you safe. Carry a side arm and protect yourself if you're worried about it. It is your right you know.

The police were to afraid to go rush in and take him out.

The question is could the police have saved lives if they weren't afraid?
