No. I never expect anyone (male or female) to open a door for me, considering I have two good hands.

Absolutely not, I think that the standards have changed drastically. I have at times held doors for men and yet at times have men hold the door or me as well. Now-a-days it all depends, on who got to the door first, how far behind from the door are you? Are you disabled, are you part of the group I'm in etc, etc. In society today there is no right or wrong way to hold they door, You can do what a lot of lazy people do, sweep in right behind the other person as the door is closing and there would not be any problems.

I appreciate when anyone holds the door open for me. Most doors today are frightfully heavy and vault-like; they can be almost impossible to open. I don't think I take advantage of it. After several back surgeries, I have been ever so grateful for all the men and women! who have opened or held the door for me.
I always thank them and tell them that the act is very much appreciated.

Yes, I believe some do.
However, as a woman who holds doors for everyone, regardless of their gender, I can tell you that there are plenty of rude men out there, as well.
As for the lurkers, I see them all the time. They actually make me laugh. I have seen women spend a good 3 minutes fishing through their purses or pockets while waiting for someone to come hold a door for them. I always want to smack them and tell them they can do it on their own if they just try a little bit.
If you are one of the nice people who holds doors and is generally courteous to your fellow human beings, please don't let those women get you down. We cannot let the lunatics start running the asylum.
(And here's a little trick I have developed when I see one of those lurkers. They prey on women, too, you know. I simply go to another door and leave them standing like fools.)

I love standing there waiting while the man waits wondering why I don't open the door. And then it hits him..OHHHH I am supposed to open the door for the lady.. I would not say I take advantage of that, it's nice. It makes me feel good to have a man open the door for me.Not in a bad way or a way to feel superior.I guess its a southern thing.

No, it is a tradition; a polite tradition. Of course the women should thank the man in return; or at least smile.

Yeah. Sometimes I just stand around the entrance to buildings, you know, lurking.
