to count = contar, numerar

to keep count = llevar la cuenta

"a count" = "una cuenta". Like a savings bank account.

If you are looking for translation, count means conteo. For example in nasa they use "conteo regresivo" meaning 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, and the smoke come up!
