Im not sure of your age, but I would guess a little younger. The number one symptom for females having a stroke or heart attack is awful neck pain. If you are under the age of 35 I would really worry about that. Yes this is a symptom of menengitis also but please dont fret about that either unless you are also having constant severe migranes (not headaches). This could be caused by simply the way you are sitting or sleeping. It is easy to upset your back but feel it in the neck also. There are so many things this could be and I understand you are in pain. I really suggest seeing your doctor before rushing to the ER. And if at all possible call your health care and insurence provider and see if you could visit a chiropractor ASAP due to the pain. Sometimes IBU doesn't cut it, please do not take asprin because it is a blood thinner and will increase your blood flow causing more pain. Maybe try some icy hot to relax yourself and help you sleep. You are never supposed to use heating pads unless intructed so by a professional also for the same reason. Sometimes it may cause more damage. Try doctor and chiropractor first! I'll pray for it to get better ;)

You need to go see the doc and they will give you some muscle relaxers and check out your ear. Do not let earaches go unchecked as you could have an infection. Also ask them about the post nasal drip as you need to get this treated too. Post nasal drip is not something that should happen normally so you may have allergies causing that. If that is the case get tested by an allergist soon.

Try to take something like Motrin. You can get it O.T.C. from any drug store. Start there. If you develop a severe headache, sore throat, and/or fever-go to the E.R.
Many viruses can settle into a weak point of the body, and since you've stated p.n.d., perhaps your cold settled in there. Hopefully this doesn't last longer than 5 days for you.
Also, try switching pillows-maybe this is the culprit!
When my neck flares up- i use moist heat-like a moistened towel warmed-not too hot!- in the microwave. This really helps to relieve the muscle stiffness.
I Feel your pain-I send prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery

Put some ice on your neck not heat, the ice will calm the muscle down and relieve the swelling. Go to the doctor as soon as you can, Put a wet washcloth in a zip lock baggie and place it in a freezer for an hour or so.

You said you've tried it try it again maybe for a while longer moist heat wet a towel hot and use a waterproof heating pad over it.
Do not use dry heat. I don't know why but it made me worse. It sounds like you pulled a muscle. If not go see a doctor it might be something more serious.

I encourage you not to wait until Friday to go to the ER. If you do have meningitis, you need to get started on treatment straight away. If you do not have meningitis, you may have injured your neck in some other fashion. Regardless of the etiology, you need some relief soon. I really encourage you to go either to a walk-in clinic or the ER tonight.
Best of luck to you,
~M~

It may be best to see a specialist in treating this type of condition (spasmodic torticollis is the technical term). This condition is caused by Myofascial Triggerpoints in one or more neck muscles and spinal subluxations. Your family Chiropractor can help you.
Best wishes and good luck.

I had something similar, and it disappeared after a few days.
I put it down to a trapped nerve. The only way to reduce the pain was to take Ibuprofen, as you're currently doing.
If you are worried, do go and see a doctor.
In terms of Meningitis, I would say that you're safe. However, please check the below link for further information regarding symptoms.

You shouldn't wait any longer! Go on to the ER...If you slept wrong on your neck it shouldn't hurt more than a day or so...sounds like an infection....
