See, science and religion need to be separate. The religious think that science disproves (or is trying to) god. The fact is the nothing science does can either prove nor disprove any god or higher power.
When talking about religion, talk about religion. When talking about science, talk about science. Don't mix the two - it doesn't work very well. Just ask Galileo - or does anyone still think that the universe revolves around the earth?

One of the stupidest things i hear is to pray to god for a cure for anything, if he controls the universe nad loves us soooo much he wouldn´t have deasease arround us , anyway, in the first place....Praying doesn´t heal anything at all, it never has, or else there wouldn´t be a need for medicine. If soemone pray for a person not to die , and he/her dies any way its becase someone didn´t prayed hard enough, accordig t that logic? well if that god only favor thoes who sing his praises , screw it!!
if he existed i´ll still be an atheist.
elevently ,BTW, there are many Dr´s. , nurses ,paramedics and , what have you who happen to be christians

I don't see religion hindering medical technology. People can use all available medical knowledge and still pray that it all works.

Two things - There is a placebo/believer effect; if that's useful, we should be careful about dismissing it out of hand.
Second, we should be really careful about distinguishing between religious beliefs and medical ethics.
But broadly, yes. Petitioning a deity to change his plan for the convenience/comfort of one or two petitioners seems to me to be arrogance of the highest order.

with everything going wrong in this world as it is right now, it is hard for me to honestly believe that there is in fact a "God" that has mighty powers. if there really is a god who indeed created this not-so-perfect, "perfect" world, then why is he letting his creation go down the tubes??? why not create more food to end world hunger, or end all of these wars in iraq, even after thousands have died!!!

We need research and money, I don't give a damn about praying. Praying does not cure and does not discover cures!

jeez. the least you could do is comfort the poor woman instead of trying to destroy the very religion that gives her the only hope she has, regardless of your beliefs.
