I am doing an MLA format paper and on each right hand corner of each page, I need to put
MY LAST NAME, PAGE NUMBER.

The headers must be a half inch away from the top of the paper, and it has to be a different header for each page.

I know how to insert the headers already, but how do i get them a half inch away from the top, and how do i make the header on each page different?

Thank you soooooooooo much!

Go to "view" then "header and footer" then just type in your name and hit the "insert page number " button on the header/footer format bar that pops up.

Well, the default setting for header and footer is half inch from the edge, so you don't need to do anything. To make the header on each page different, you need to create sections first. For example, if you want the second page header is different than the first page, create a section break (Insect, break, under section breaks, choose either next page or continuous how your format goes, then ok), then go to second page, insect header, there is a icon "link to previous", click it, make sure it is not highlighted, then type your header, that is it.

you need to do page setup for half inch space, from the file menu select page setup and then change the top as much you need for your case half inch and you can't use different header for different pages unless you put each page in each document, but if you mean different header by having consecutive page numbering then there is an option in the header footer tool for page numbers try that. Good luck!

On printing they will probably be about 1/2" from the top anyway. (Check your margins under Page Setup.) Also, each page WILL have a different header, because the page numbers will be different! Is that different enough?
