My cat just had a kitten, its eyes are open will my male cat harm it? Is this true or a myth?

You are so irresponsible. Do you know how many orphaned kittens there are??? It is because of people like you. You should have had your kitten spayed. Do you know what happens to all the orphaned newborn kittens out there that get taken to a shelter? If they are not adopted within 2 hours of arriving at the shelter, they KILL them. You are adding to this problem by not being a responsible pet owner.

Male cats can kill kitten to make the female go into heat again asap so his own offspring gets a better chance.
The mother cat will defend her kitten though.

YES!!!! Male cats can harm or even kill kittens. Keep your male cat away!!!! I've had several kittens killed by my male cats over the years.

Sometimes they will but when they do it;s a kitten from another father 'so she can go in heat again and have the killers baby's ..I would put mama + baby in a dark closed quite place for a week or so 'so he;ll get used to the smells and sounds of kitty cries....good-luck

Probably not, but just to be safe i would put it and the mama somewhere secluded. If he did try and harm it, I'm pretty sure it's mama would tear him up.
