Hey, PM. There are some religions I didn't even know existed! So I have learnt a lot and I think it has helped clarify my beliefs a bit.

Liking more or less? Well, I think I had a fair respect for most faiths beforehand. And I've liked the education.

But I have been stunned by the attitude of some 'fundamentalist' Christians. I just never knew people thought such things. I have also been bemused to learn about the lack of religious education in the US and the hold of 'creationism'. All very 'odd' from a European perspective.

No odder than fundamentalist Muslims, perhaps. But somehow the media brainwashed me to expect that. Sorry.

So I dislike not religion but 'fundamentalism' more. I have come to think that Charles Kimball is perhaps right when he proposes that religious belief systems tend to become destructive when they are characterized by absolute truth claims, notions of a cosmic struggle between God and the Devil (cosmic dualism), and rigid dichotomies between good and evil.

Absolute light or dark. Good or evil. Me or You. God save us from absolutes.

I cant say I like or dislike any religion more than I did when I arrived.

I went through a phase where I thought the atheist were mostly hateful due to the comments of some of the ruder ones. But I realize that those are just individuals, & they probally speak in hate from some bad experiences sith fundies.

I have learned that i can easily find what i have in common with most beliefs. Even some of the fundamentalist Christians have been really cool. My only real problem with the nice ones is that they are not saying very much against the censorship and hate speech that comes from people claiming to believe like them. I did not initially come to this site with any bad feelings about other belief system but the behaviors of fundamentalist extremists makes me concerned that they would like to build an American form of fascism that would outdo anything the Taliban ever dreamed of.

No...it has not caused me to dislike any religion. I've learned some aspects of beliefs, and I think learned more tolerance towards others with differing opinions. Over all, the experience has been enlightening.

Peace, Love, and Blessings,

I don't dislike any religion or belief system more for having participated on this site. But I must say that I'm constantly having to lower my estimation of some people's tolerance and intelligence levels.

And my estimation didn't start out very high to begin with.

A religion by itself is no reason for hate. Most religions all strive to be as morally correct and kind as possible. However, I have noticed that there are some hypocrites who claim to be religious in a certain way and are actually not. I do not hate them, but pity them for having a lack of self-understanding.

I came here pretty much sure of myself, lol

then I decided that we humans are the same in nature no matter what our religious, cultural or racial differences are.

We all should be humble and be nice to each other.

I cant say I learned much about religions per se. Ive researched more and read more and I know of places with far more valuable and understandable information then just opinionated facts. But I gotta hand it to them, the human mind plays the same games in any given situation. If the intention is good, the actions are too.

I can't say that it caused me to dislike a particular religion but it has caused me to dig deeper into what I believe based on the answers I have read and the references provided.

I strive to take each person as he or she comes. I don't punish an entire religion over the acts of an individual, or use the act of an individual to categorize the rest of the community. I have seen bad behavior here from individuals coming from all different paths, (or lack thereof), I have likewise seen lovely people here.
