Hi. I have had mild athsma all my life. I am taking an AMAZING product called Limu that has gotten rid of most of my athsma. I realy want to join the reserves, but athsma is a disqualifier. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of athsma? Please don't talk about meds, thay only cover it up and cause me worse problems. And if anyone knows about millitary rules reguarding athsma, please help me. This means a lot to me, so don't tell me it can't be done. I've heard enough of that. I want ideas of how I can do it.
Thanks! You all are GREAT!!!

You'll be fine.

Go talk to the recruiter. He'll get you a waiver. They only cut you out for severe asthma.

I am a recruiter for the Navy. And I am sorry to say that there is really nothing you can do about this If you are still being treated for it then its definatly a disqualifier. and for the Navy meds and treatment after the age 13 is not waiverable. I am sorry to not be able to give you better news. As a recruiter that is the hardest thing to turn away people who want to do this so bad but cant...

dont try to hide this type of thing. if you do and you get caught you will get a bad discharge code for eroneous enlistment. and that will only harm you down the road...

just don't tell them. if you are able to run 5 miles with out having a big problem. My battle buddy did that in basic she had sports related athsma and did not tell them and was fine. have you tried swimming it forces you to hold your breath and breath on a regular pattern that has really helped me. I developed athsma after enlisting. you might also want to talk to a personal trainer or someone that dose homeopathic medicine they might have some other ideas. Good luck

you can't just 'get rid of asthma'

the reason so many people tell you it can't be done..is because IT CAN'T BE DONE.

and forget trying to lie or 'forget' to disclose it.. that will be found out and then you will be in even mnore trouble.. for fraudulent enlistment. Being treated for or diagnosed with asthma past age 12 is a permanent DQ with zero chance of a waiver for all military branches and components.

Just call the nearest recruiter, I have yet to understand people needing information about joining the military keep asking for infos in this forum. I would not put any legal value to the answers you'd get in yahoo answers.

just dont tell them right off the bat. as long as you can survive without the meds for a couple weeks through boot camp. when you make it you can bring it up and tell them that it statrted in boot camp. as far as they know, it wasnt pre-existing. if you want something bad enough you will find a way. you have to know how to work the system.

i know it sounds caniving but it happens. people do it all the time. not that it makes it right but a personal thing. your not hurting anyone.

If you sign up for active duty, they'll take you. Your local recruiter will show you how to sneak in.
