I try to remember God throughout the day when I think of difficult problems in my life. I say I will leave it God's hands. I can only do so much.

Does anyone else do that or what other coping mechanisms do you have? I think that monitoring your thoughts and thinking positive works too.

I really try to do the same myself. God has been good to me in my life, but sometimes the load is so heavy I have turn it over to him completely. The sad part about that, is I turn right around and pick that load back up, knowing there is only so much I can do myself. It is really hard sometimes to see the positive in things, no matter what the situation may be. The negative always seems to stand out. The other thing that has helped me would be to take a step back and look at my life. Sometimes I take advantage of the things that I have been blessed with, and I forget what others don't have and how thankful I should be. No matter what, it could always be worse. In those brief pondering moments, I can come out of the situation with a totally different view of things. I believe that is where God comes in.... : )

I consider myself a Christian. But yes, I have turned my back on God several times. I actually have had a pretty messy life. I have seen darkness and ugliness since a very young age that most people haven't or shouldn't seen at all in their lifetime. I have been to hell and back, and have attempted suicide several times. In the past I blamed God for the bad hand of cards that I was dealt in life. I was very angry with him. But eventually I learned that people cause pain, god doest cause pain. And that helped me a lot. I also turned my back on God recently though because I had realized that Christian people had caused me the most pain than any athiest person ever did, so again I hated God....That was hard for me to come to terms with. I guess I figured that I didnt want to follow someone who had followers that broke my heart. I have forgiven the people involved though and I have reconciled with god. I have learned in the end that all I need is god. I cannot live without him, so through the good times and the Terrible, he'll be there with me.

Oh yes. Yes. Yes. I have a bible at work for days that are particularly hard. I've had a few lately. I don't know what's wrong with me, I just feel out of sorts and moody and far from God and like I'm crashing and burning. So I turn to His word and try not to rely on my feelings. I think He is trying to teach me this; that's it's not about how I feel (I don't feel His presence), it's about His word (He promises He will never leave nor forsake me). It always gets me through.

YES! Practically everyday, when a problem arises, I pray and ask the Lord to take lead- I do have great comfort in knowing that He does take care of us who love Him. I always ask for His wisdom when trying to solve that problem, I do have assurance in Him- and that is awesome. I think of that all the time, how if I did not have God in my life, and did not have the faith I have, and being grounded in His word---how I would be frantically lost! I would never want that feeling. I praise God He has given me such peace in Him, and such Joy in His salvation!!

(I Just posted a question with a verse, and it goes well with this question!)

One of the best immediate (so to speak) benefits of faith is that we can get comfort from putting things into the hand of God in faith and feel His loving care for us. Without this, life would be horrible at times unnecessarily. Keep the faith, as they say.

Yes....positive thinking. I think they've even done studies where those that believed in a higher power coped better with life's challenges than those who did not believe....the positive effect of prayer also helps.

Most certainly! I have come through the loss of my 12 year old son because of my faith in God. I will always miss Him, but the Lord has given me beauty for ashes, oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
How great is our God!

No as I do not rely on any deity since they are unproved. I get through the difficult times with the help of those I love and trust and they all happen to be human beings I can see before me and hug. Humanity always comes first and foremost.
