And this kid had ALOT of red flags over the course of the years, he event went to a hospital where he was kept a few days, considered mentally ill and a threat to himself and others.
He stalked students, had a run in with the police 2 or 3 times anyway.

One teacher even had such a fear of him she had a code word to alert others to call the cops about him...

Hate to tell you this, but in THIS country- Education is the LAW- not a privledge. THAT means every Tom, Dick & Timmothy McVey passes through the school system- & "red flags" are fluttering by the tens of thousands. The V.T. shooter got "lost" in that sea of flags- only to suddenly show up on CNN two days ago. We tend to ignore people with Mental Health issues in this country. Maybe it's time we invested alittle more money in finding out what we should be doing about those little "red flags..."

I totally agree. I think that educational institutions should implement a psychological test to be taken by the new students so they can be alert with those individuals who seem to be “disturbed”. Specially in a case like this, where the shooter was investigated for stalking some girls. This kind of people should be expelled from the campus!

After all, these institutions are responsible for the safety and well-being of the rest of students so they should provide a safe environment for all. I feel terribly sorry for those parents who lost their children there. These kind of situations must be stopped.

Define "red flag". All we really know about the guy is that he was a loner, that he moved here with his family from south korea looking for a better life, and that he hated rich kids. You can't discriminate someone based on something they might do in the future. That would be like sending someone to jail for life for smoking marijuana. Hmmm, he smoked once, therefore, he will again, therefore he will become a drug dealer, therefore he will hurt people. It's fuzzy logic. Just because someone is different and doesn't fit in with the crowd, it doesn't make them homicidal. Granted, the VT shooter was obviously disturbed, but not everyone that has that has traits in common with him are.
