It is never wrong to want to understand. Do not listen to the religious people who tell you that reading about other people's cultures means working for the devil. These people live a life of ignorance, and they seek one for you too.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful There are many Muslims who have committed the Holy Qur'an to memory. It is not required but every Muslim should be able to understand what is written in the Qur'an so that he can learn his religion correctly. I have some chapters memorized and am working on more - I'd love to have the entire Qur'an memorized before I die, but even if I can't I will keep learning. Just memorizing the Qur'an is a blessing but of course one must be living in a manner pleasing to God as well. It would be hypocritical to memorize the Qur'an and then live a sinful life, ignoring the lessons that you recite. May Allah guide you to the best in this world and the next. Ameen. Not necessarily. Some faiths prohibit reading anything but the Bible. That's closed minded though. Some say that the average person is not well enough equipped to read literature of other faiths safely. That too is an ignorant position.

Absolutly not! I think you need to go through and study books of different faiths and compare to what you know as a christian and how it compares to the Bible. I have many books of different religions. One needs to be well equipped to answer for one's own faith. Pray before you read and ask the Holy spirit to show you the truth as you read. Make notes and keep your bible handy for comparison.

No its not wrong. I have books from other religions such as the Qur'an for nothing else but to look inside this religion....
But if you want to look into it for the sake of looking into the religion check out Robert Morey or Walter Martin and others I'm sure...they've already done a whole bunch of research on the subject.

A few Christians will freak out about it. I say you should read them all, how else will you know what is right for you? Do you think a Muslim should pick up the bible? You have to answer both of those questions the same way or you are a hypocrite.

The quran is trash pure and simple. I read one so i could tell muslims why it is just pure garbage and show them that it is just the rambing of a pervert. So unless you are very well grounded in the Lord i do not subjest reading or having one in your home.

It is important to read books of a different faith. It helps in witnessing to lost souls.

No, one should read the Holy Books of any religion they might have reason to critique or praise. Including ones own religion.
