becaust it's the same distance overall isn't it? plus walking means you'll be excorcising for longer.

The short answer is yes. The difference, however, is that running a mile revs up your metabolism more and so helps you to lose more weight in the long run. You'll burn the same amount of calories doing the mile either way, but if you run it, you'll keep burning calories faster for a period of time afterwards.

I believe that walking (power walking) and jogging will burn the same amount of calories. When jogging you will run a mile faster than power walking. The down side to running is that you will jar your kneecaps and that is not a good thing. Over the years, depending on how old you are, the results will show up when your knees and feet begin to hurt. I would strongly suggest that you pace yourself when power walking. In that way you will be able to see more, and you will not feel as tired.
So yes, I believe that walking and jogging will burn the same amount of calories.

no it doesn't. it requires alot more energy to run a mile than it does to walk it.
