Everyone does their own thing. Even those who claim to follow a 'holy book' are just doing their own thing. They're not going to do something that they wouldn't do. That is against reason. So the only option is to do ones own thing, even when ones own thing is to follow a 'holy book'.

Pretty good question. Pretty easy to answer, but.... No matter how hard things may seem at times, in the end, they always turn out to be good lessons so I can live by the word Of God and deal with other peoples "own things." I would NEVER turn away from the Lord and I'll do all I can to help other see how WONDERFUL God and Gods way really is. People try to get all they can out of life, but what is life, but a short time we have here on earth. Stop worrying so much about what you can get out of life and start worrying about where your going to spend eternity. And that means FOREVER. Everything you can get here, like cars, houses etc... you can't take with you. So, whats more important, living life right, by the way of God, and spending eternity in Heaven, where everything is more then GREAT. Or, doing your own thing and spending eternity in hell, where everything is nothing but misery and sadness? Blessed be Always

Even if you do your own thing, it is not really that you can do it without a guide line. Human laws are written and imposed and there are police to limit your abuses and misuses of your privileges to do things on your own.
The Holy books only show you the guidelines of what and how to live righteously according to the teachings of what is humanly and spiritually good. It does not tell what course or career you will have to tkae or what kind of face your wife must be.
How can you not give importance to the Book that tells me how to do it on my own rightfully?

definately following the Bible (Holy Book) versus my own thing, because if I continued to do my "own thing" I'd be in a lot of misery. Your own thing may not offer much structure nor morals, where a Holy Book (BIBLE) stands for Bibilicial Instructions Before Leaving Earth. and you own thing gives no instructions so anything goes.

Along those lines -- neither.
Doing the RIGHT thing is.
I've never found a "holy book" which was without any moral error. They're all filled with moral errors, from the Torah, the Bible, the Qu'ran, the Baghavad Gita, etc...

holy book. the main reason people don't believe in religions is because they want to do their own thing. its all about control. u need directions for everything in life. and the holy book tells us how to live.

Which will do more harm to you , following the good book or doing your own thing? Even pascal has enough wisdom to know the answer to that one. Do you?

I am a sovereign human being, to the extent allowed by my civilization and care nothing for the superstitious mysticism of any "holy" book.
