As of today, it would take 2.0088 United States Dollars to buy a single British Pound.
US currency is down on the world market, which is good for our exports, (we get more dollars for the same products...) and bad for our imports (we pay more dollars for our imported goodies)

I was there in March and the exchange rate was 2 to 1. 2 US dollars equal 1 pound. The teller at the bank said it was my lucky day. I gave her $ 600.00 and she gave me back 300 pounds. It changes all the time.
