I'm not trying to be boastful - but maybe they envy the realtionship that true Christians have with the Creator and Author of ALL things; and simply don't know how, or are too proud to submit to His will.............Just a thought.
I mean it IS a privelidge to "know" God.

Catherine, my dear Catherine...we are simply obeying God. God is nor man such that He should lie! We are obeying the commandments of God! His Word bears record of who He is; and that He is who He says He is. Truly, the scriptures bear record.

dear catherine,
you, my dear, are belabouring your heart needlessly.
In fact, this question was most obviously not adressed to the likes of you. My question indeed is to those who profess to be ON the side of the Lord.
I think your're taking this matter TAR too personally.

Catherine, Catherine,
"No one can answer a question about what atheists feel or think but atheists."
If this is what you believe; then for you or any other atheist to answer something pertaining to how a "no-atheist" feels or thinks would be hypocritical. Isn't that right? mmmmm?yeeeesss.
I think you're on to something......

I normally would write a lot to a question like this, but none of it would convince you of anything, so I'll just ask this:
If atheists really were jealous of Christians, then why wouldn't they just become Christians? Anyone can become a Christian if that's what they want; it's not like envying someone else's looks, or friends, or intelligence, or something you can't possibly achieve. If I woke up tomorrow wishing that I had what Christians have, then I would go to a church.

Atheists don't envy Christians their "relationship" with a "Creator", because they don't believe in a creator. If they did, they wouldn't be atheists.
You must be very self-absorbed to assume that people who don't share your beliefs secretly wish that they did. Those are YOUR beliefs.
Maybe you sense hostility from atheists because ignorant questions like this are really irritating to them. Atheists sense an awful lot of hostility from Christians in their questions and answers, too. This question itself is extremely condescending, and it's obvious that you intended it to be that way. (But I'm not going to stoop to your level and insinuate that it's because hostile Christians like you just secretly wish they knew how to use their brains and not follow a myth like blind cattle.)
I understand that you feel that you are obeying God, and I respect your beliefs and wish you happiness in them. But those are YOUR beliefs. Not everyone shares your beliefs, and it is presumptuous and arrogant to suggest that they secretly wish that they did. Don't you understand that it's postings like this that ignite the hostility that you're criticizing? I get the feeling that you're fully aware of it, and it amuses you.
Exactly what part of your question is "obviously" not addressed to "the likes of" me? No one can answer a question about what atheists feel or think but atheists. You put it out there for atheists to see, and you meant it to be condescending. If you try to lie and say you didn't, then don't forget that the God that you profess to believe in is listening to you lie.

for some, maybe-for others, it may be that they're just annoyed at being preached to-for others, maybe they had a bad experience with someone from some religion or another-for some it might be that they're just hateful, and for still others, they may be lashing out because they're afraid if they come to know God, they'll have to give up something they enjoy doing...there are probably as many reasons as there are people displaying hostility-BUT, from my own experience, most atheists aren't hostile AT ALL
