all of my tattoos represent me in some way or another.
i have a koi swimming up a waterfall which represents the struggle of life but the fact that it's swimming upriver shows that i am "making it" and the lotus flowers along side the koi represent beauty and perserverance (they grow up from the muddy water) i also have a sea turtle which represents wisdom and maturity to me.

i have a korean takeout box with a fortune cookie on my left foot which represents my family and reminds me how important they are to me.

on my right foot i have a skull to remind me how short life is and that it can be taken away from me at any moment. i got it in memory of my high school coach who was murdered and a friend who died in a car accident. i never got to say goodbye to them, not they way they deserved.

I have 2 tattoos. One is the Ying/Yang symbol of balance and good and evil on my ankle. When i got it I did so to remind me to never take the easy way out, because nothing good comes from things you don't work hard for. My second tattoo is what some people would call a "tramp stamp"(the small of my back). But it is in fact not sexual at all. It is a Celtic butterfly representative of one worn by one of the elves in the J.R.R Tolkien novels Lord of the Rings. It represents my love for reading and fantasy literature. The location was optimal for the type of figure it was. Thanks for letting me share.

I got my 1st tattoo the summer before my freshman year of college. It's a rosary on my foot/ankle. I knew that I would be around lots of "sinful" things and I just wanted something to remind me to stay on the right path. My second tattoo is on my wrist and it's the Chinese symbol for "strong". I got it a few months into my freshman year when I was having serious doubts as to whether I was in the right place, the right school...basically, I was thinking of dropping out and didn't think I could make it through the semester. I got that tattoo as a reminder of how strong I am and that I could make it if I really wanted to...after all, if I can take hundreds of needles piercing my skin, I think I can make it to that 8:00 am class ;D

Some people just get a tattoo for the heck of it...cause they think its cute so they go in and pick the prettiest picture they think the found.

Most people get things that mean something to them...

As for me...I just got a little red heart on the backside of my love handle.

Saw it on a carebear when I was a youngster and thought it was cute.

Dont get a tattoo if you already dont have one. You will regret it. and if you insist on getting one than get it somewhere that you can cover when you want and expose when you want so it doesnt have to be out there all the time.

I have several tattoos. The tattoos have meaning to me. To me the tattoos tell a story where I was when I got it, Why I chose that to be a tattoo on my body and what I represent.

Yes. All my current tattoos are related to music. One is a chorus from a song that really represents my beliefs and another is just a music note on my arm.

I think most peoples tattoos mean something about the person or their life. Almost all mine do. I have a butterfly w/ my daughters name ,which I am atually going to be covering w/ her baby footprint and once my son is born I'm getting his footprint too. Then I have my own name on my lower back, and I have my husbands name in Arabic on my hip,We got matching ones when he was home on leave from serving in Iraq. Then I have a rebelflag butterfly w/ tribal on my lowerback, I got when I moved to the south. I only have one that doesnt mean anything I thought it was neat and different so I got it.

I have 15 tattoos.

Most are tribal due to a fascination with them.
However, I do have two "name" tattoos.
My late wife who passed away 8 years ago with a dragon on my arm.
And my current wife in calligraphy on my hip.
