If you need to ask you probably wouldn't understand.

Somewhat non-romantic answer is that two people love each other, and they both figure they're better off living as a married couple than either a) never marrying anybody or b) continuing to look for a better match. Sometimes there is outside pressure to marry, especially if the couple conceived a child. In those cases whether it's "appropriate" is a very subjective call.

The word "marriage" describes the contract entered into between husband and wife and the relationship created by that contract. Like any contract, the marriage contract can be broken. But because of society's interest in promoting marriage, the government must give its approval to the end of one. Although many of us view the concept of marriage differently from the way our grandparents did, most of the elements of a legal marriage remain the same. For example, if you're already married to someone, you cannot legally marry another person until your first marriage ends, either through annulment, by divorce, or by the death of your spouse.

that's easy - there's a tax break. just kidding! many people dont marry, actually. i think the ones that do marry, chose to do so because they find someone that they make a good team with. be it raising a family or paying the bills, a spouse is a partner before anything else.

The only reason you should ever think about getting married is if you're in love.

For my husband and I, it was wanting to give our lives to each other. We respect, love, trust, and are so compatible to each other that marriage was inevitable. We wanted the bonds of marriage to be a part of our lives. And my husband loves to turn down the ladies now that he has a gold wedding band on his finger!
