am10017 is correct. Here's more on how to determine your skin tone:

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

Hmm...a few people seem to be confused. Olive skin does not have yellow undertones, it has green, hence the name olive, and this puts it in the cool tone family, not warm. Yellow is actually the undertone that's commonly found in the Wheatish complexion which is a characteristic of the Orientals, not people from the Medditeranean who have true olive skin.

Fair skin is usually light and you can have warm fair skin or cool fair skin. It all depends on the undertones.

Olive skin has almost a green tint to it and it can come in light and dark shades. An example of a light olive skin tone is this http://www.wchstv.com/abc/nypdblue/nicholasturturro.jpg and of dark olive skin is this http://nilesh.org/weblog/images/jesushead.jpg

Sometimes people confused olive skin with tan skin or golden. Neither of which are olive skin. Olive skin can be tan, yes, but it doesn't have red, orange or yellow undertones in it, it still has green, and you'll actually see these come out a lot more when your skin is tan. People with olive and other cool skin tones burn easily. My husband (half Italian) is proof of this and I also read it on a website some time ago. We went to a beach all day and because of the length of time we were out we both burned. However because he has light olive skin and I have light red skin, he got sun poisoning and I just got a bad burn. So if you do burn you'll burn much worse than someone with warm toned skin.

You'll also notice that olive skin looks better in silver colored jewelry and cool tones like light blue, light pink and dark pink, blue-reds (not warm reds like ketchup colored), cool purlpes and cool greens, as well as slate gray colors.

Fair skin is very light, usually has pinkish or bluish undertones. Also, usually burns easily, harder to tan. Look better in cool colors, silver jewelry.

Olive skin is usually a bit darker, but has yellow undertones. Tans more readily. Look better in warm colors, gold jewelry.
