What makes water alkalined? I now buy it from my dentist but would like to make my own. I have a very acidic body & need this water on a daily basis.

It may sound wacky to you ,however those who go through it think not. If I go w/out the water for 48 hours I have a very hard time trying to make it through the day perfoming my job, breathing & in many other ways. However I do thank you for your input.

Hmmm... really? Sounds like some type of New-Age Medicine wackiness.

The reason I'm skeptical is that the (alkaline) water will go into your stomach (an acidic environment) and become neutralized by an acid-alkaline reaction.

Baking soda is an alkaline and is commonly used to neutralize acids so adding baking soda to water should form an alkalined water solution.

Doing research, alkalined water is usually made by an ionizer, which is different than a baking soda solution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_ionizer

The alkaline water is created through an electro-chemical reaction.
