Now this is more like it! Good, positive, thought-provoking. And it's all true. God Bless you, dear Friend, for bringing that to my attention.

Most of the Amphibian Vessels are named after states or cities
Lets hope the USS New York is better made than her sister the USS San Antonio. $36 million to fix the shipbuilders foul ups.

I hardly think of it as "Scrap metal" first off. I think it is very appropriate to take something destroyed by hatred and forge something meant for good. I hope she will be loved by her men who will see her as a symbol and that she will be respected as a piece of history. I don't see a down side at all.

To answer your question...
Yes.
And by the way, KR7...you're wrong about the max burning temperature of jet fuel. It is actually 1796 degrees Farenheit. And keep in mind, jet fuel isn't the only thing that was burning.

Well since they don't build battleships anymore I guess they have to start naming subs after states. They use to names subs after fish.

thanks Pataki for your unusual level of ignorance about the military and your absolutly important intervention into nothing!!
submarines used to be named after fish
only the Ohio class are named after states thats about 17 boats because theres one exception.
the navy has subs named after cites:
688 is the Los Angeles as well as the name for the entire class of submarines produced up to the seawolf class; so no unusual exception was granted by the Navy
once again whatever flag waving propaganda gets spewed gets swallowed hook line and sinker. Hooray one more device whos sole purpose is military domination and its only good for killing.
