I have a 1997 Honda civic with a Kenwood Head Unit installed by Best Buy about 4 -5 years ago. The stereo was working fine, but about 2 weeks ago it just stopped working. What happens now is that the faceplate just flips over randomly. Occasionally there is a display on the screen for a few seconds but it is distorted. None of the buttons work and I am unable to eject the CD. I checked the fuse on the back of the unit and it looks fine. I also checked the fuse in my car underneath the dash and it looks fine as well. All connections look fine as well ( I diconnected and reconnected everything). Do you think the unit is just dead? Could there be another fuse? Should I go ahead and change the fuses anyway? Any advice would be appreciated.

If you got 4-5 years from a Kenwood with a motorized face, you did pretty well. The flip-face Kenwoods have always had problems; usually it's an issue with the ribbon cable between the faceplate and the chassis. It's certainly reparable at any Kenwood authorized service center. Replacing the fuse won't help anything.

I would find your local authorized Kenwood service center, and either call them or go see them and ask them about your problem. I would bet they have seen this before many times.
