I've never heard of a "football field theory".
We believe that all of us were spirit beings before we were born into mortality, with one Heavenly Father, making us all spirit "brothers and sisters". Jesus was the first of these spirits, and Lucifer was one, before he rebelled against God's plan of salvation, and became Satan. So, no, SATAN is no one's brother, spirit or otherwise.
Working in conjunction, that's an interesting way to put it. No, I don't think they are working in conjunction, but each is fully aware of the other's agenda, and each is wanting to win; however, Satan does not want anyone having free will, Christ does.

The football field is a new one for me. I always was taught it was a 'tug - o - war': Mormon good guys against the world of evil satan-lead bad guys.
The notion of Lucifer being the younger brother of Jesus is taught in the morg. What is not taught is that the name "Lucifer" is Latin from the Greek Ephosphoros, or "Light Bearer", and the biblical reference was to a Babylonian king. Lucifer is also a reference to Venus, or 'Star of the Morning,' a title often attributed to Jesus.
However, facts do not change mormon thought or philosophy anymore than DNA mitochondrial evidence debunks the Morg claim of jewish ancestry of the American Indians.

Football Field Theory? Never heard it called that. This is what the church teaches.
"Satan, also called the adversary or the devil, is the enemy of all righteousness and of those who seek to follow God. He is a spirit son of God who was once an angel "in authority in the presence of God" (D&C 76:25; see also Isaiah 14:12; D&C 76:26–27). But in the premortal Council in Heaven, Lucifer, as Satan was then called, rebelled against God. Since that time, he has sought to destroy the children of God on the earth and to make them miserable."
There is more that can be read about his role on earth. The LDS church does not limit itself to the bible. We have other scriptures and revalation to support our teachings. the only thing I could come up with for m the bible was this:
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

Using only the Bible, anyone who knows it can frustrate a Mormon in a hurry. Don't use their Bible, old Joe Smith rewrote some things in it.
